Second year starts slowly seeing as falling back into a routine was easy. The fun part is that over half the Quidditch team graduated that past year with Bill. The coven has been checking the notice board daily to see when try outs are but nothing's showed up yet.

"Okay, you lot, listen up!" Jason Mayer, the new Quidditch captain calls to the nearly full common room on the third day back. "The Quidditch team is currently me, myself, and I. I've booked the pitch for the next two months including Quidditch try outs tomorrow. Sign up sheet is about to go up. For the love of Merlin, let me sit down before signing up if you choose to."

"Adding that on is a good choice." Jacob says as we all pick up quills. The second Jason's sitting we all jump up to sign up.

"The entirety of Hufflepuff second year?" A fourth year asks after signing up.

"Why not try out?" I ask with a shrug.

"There are more deserving people, older people, who need those spots." He says, sneering at me.

"See you on the pitch." I say simply before walking off.

The next day the coven and roughly twenty other Hufflepuffs go to the pitch to try out.

"Okay, before we start, if you don't get the starting position there is the possibility of become a reserve."

"Hufflepuff hasn't held reserve Quidditch positions in over ten years." A sixth year calls up.

"Then it's time to do it again. Split up by positions you're trying out for! Keepers to the left, Beaters in the middle, and Chasers on the right!" Jason calls out. Just my luck the Hufflepuff from the day before is also trying out for the Keeper position.

"I think you misheard, little girl. This is the group for the Keepers position."

"No. I heard him correctly." I say. Nearly everyone starts chuckling after looking at my small frame. "Yes, I know. I don't have the body type for it."

"Might as well count her out as competition now." A fifth year says.

Aight. Bet.

Jason, hearing all this, eyes the Keeper's group before turning to the Chasers.

"I need three Chasers for first position and three for reserves. To the sky." Jason calls out and over half the group, Nikki and Jacob included, kick off. I watch as well as I can from the ground; my favorite part is watching Jason flinch as some of the performances. After thirty minutes they land; Jason goes over his notes and stares at the parchment for a while. I look at Talia and Brooks in amusement-their faces matching mine, they know who made first Chasers.

"Okay, first Chasers are Tommy Stokes, Nikki Williams, and Jacob Mills." He announces, naming a third year as well, to much complaining. He screams the reserves but I'd be surprised if they heard. He whistles to shut them up. "Since I'm sure none of you heard who the reserves are I will have the new team posted in the common room tomorrow. Beaters, take to the air."

I wink at Nikki and Jacob before turning my attention to Talia and Brooks. I am by far not the only one who flinches at some of the performances. Jason is shaking his head when they land.

"I'm not going to sugar coat this: I will have reserves for Beaters when I want to lose, the Chasers will be better Beaters; on the other hand there were two people who I swear to Merlin could read each other's minds: Talia Fletcher and Brooks Tellkin."

"You better not get this, Red." A seventh year spits venomously at me.

"Or what?" I ask with a raised eyebrow. Hufflepuffs don't attack other Hufflepuffs, it's a house rule; if you do then the whole house turns it's wrath on you. I love this house and it's passive-aggressive ways.
