Now playing: Heal By Tom Odell
"The weather is nice today," Felix spoke as he looked out the window.
Hyunjin who was seated next to him near the bed nodded and smiled as he looked at the freckled boy. "Yeah, but you know what else is nice?" he asked, making the younger's gaze turn to him.
"What is?"
"You."
Felix chuckled and playfully punched the older on the shoulder, "That was so bad. And probably overused."
"Oh, but you love them."
"Well, I would be lying if I said I didn't."
Hyunjin giggled and slowly slid his hand in Felix's small one, squeezing it tightly as their gazes never left each other. "Thank you, for spending time with me, today," Felix said as his other hand crawled up onto the taller's. "It gets really lonely sometimes."
The older rubbed his hand on the blonde's one, giving it a light squeeze, "I can come here every day if you want me to."
Felix shook his head, "Don't you have school to tend to? Don't waste it on me."
"I can make time for that and you," Hyunjin replied. "But you're important."
Silence fell upon them as they sat there, getting lost in each other's gazes and letting their eyes do the talking. After a while, Felix broke the contact and looked away, pulling his hand away from the older's hand. "Do you think you can get something to drink? The nurses gave me water but I'm in need of something sweet," Felix asked as focused his attention out the window.
Hyunjin's eyes were still fixated on the younger but he slowly nodded and got up from his seat. "I'll be back in a few minutes," he replied as he was about to walk out the room until Felix called out to him.
"Oh, I want the-"
"Strawberry milkshake," the taller interrupted as he turned back to look at the boy on the bed.
The freckled boy smiled, "How did you know?"
"You mentioned it's your favorite," the blonde only chuckled before nodding his head.
Hyunjin gave Felix a smile before leaving the room and walking across the hallway. He passed by patients who were walking to their room and greeted the nurses that smiled at him. He made his way down to the hospital's cafeteria and ordered the drink that Felix wanted and also something for himself.
As he waited for his order to come up, he sat at a nearby table and allowed his mind to run free. He traced back to Felix's wounds; there were scars, big and small, on his skin; he was bandaged from his neck all the way to his fingertips. It was heartbreaking but it was better when Hyunjin first saw those wounds a few months back.
He remembers how bruised the freckled boy was when he first saw him on the hospital bed. He had big gashes on his arms and deep cuts on his face. He remembered how the blonde's legs were cast and he wasn't even able to walk for a few weeks. It hurt him so much to see Felix like that.
If only he wasn't selfish, Felix wouldn't be like this.
Hyunjin and Felix started dating when they were in their last year of high school and were planning to go to the same university. Unfortunately, Felix got accepted but Hyunjin didn't so he had to find another alternative. He eventually got settled in another university but the only problem was that it was further away so their plans on moving in together had to be put on a pause.
Both of them stayed in dorms at their universities and settled on texting and calling every night. They agreed on meeting every weekend to catch up and spend some time together; which they did but it only was for a few months before their courses really got serious.
