The next day rolled around fast, I gotten up that morning and got dressed not ready to go home to boring old Chicago. I already had everything packed into my suitcase so I grabbed it along with my hockey bag before leaving my dorms. I started walking towards Banks door so we could walk together like normal, I could hear the girls talking not to far in front of me but I wasn't about to say anything not now anyways. I knocked on Banks door learning from my mistake last time, he opened the door all ready
A- you ready?
D- no.. I don't think I ever will be
A- me either D
he grabbed his bags before we started walking, we walked past the girls who were now with Dean, Fulton an Guy. I fought the urge to roll my eyes at the fact that Dean an Julie were together so I just kept my eyes forward. We handed our dorm keys to the guy before getting into the big van that sadly we had to share with Julie, Guy, Connie, Fulton, and Dean. this couldn't get anymore weird, they were talking while Adam an I engaged in small talk
A- what is your plan when you get back home?
D- well once I get there, I start school on Monday again so I will probably just sleep. the hockey season has already started so I most likely won't join my old team just cause I already played hockey up here if you get what I mean, what about you?
he nodded before speaking
A- well I have to travel to Edina, face my dad with my mom who is meeting me there than from there I will pack my stuff an go with my mother..
D- you nervous for all that?
A- yeah, it's not the easiest thing to do. yes he was was bad father but he's still my dad, he practically raised me
D- I understand that, I can't say I can relate to the whole leaving your dad thing but I know it's probably one of the hardest things to do.. just know I'm only one call away Banks
he smiled at me before kissing my cheek, my face went red an my eyes went wide while he chuckled quietly
A- you look like you got sunburned
I chuckled along with him before we got to the airport, we all walked in and went through the bag check thing an secrituiy before getting our plane tickets. I took a seat in one of the chairs along with Adam as we waited for our flight, I got tired an just laid my head on Adam's shoulder without thinking and fell asleep. I got woken up like 10 minutes later by Adam saying we had to board the flight, we all got on the plane and I was seated in between Adam thank god and Charlie so this wouldn't be too bad. they were chatting while I had my headphones in listening to music while drawing in my notebook, the flight was to Texas since we all were switching flights there expect Dwayne since he lives up there. I flight was 3 4 hours so I just did that the whole time while the boys had "boy talk". the plane landed an we all got off, I had my headphones around my neck the feeling finally hitting me that we all were parting ways. I had gotten my ticket to Chicago that was leaving in 15 minutes so I had time to say goodbye to everyone. I started off with the guys saying goodbye to all of them getting forced into a hug by Charlie, I didn't say goodbye to Fulton because yeah no thanks (rude lol). I looked at the girls an they both were tearing up making me sigh. I walked over an gave them both a huge pushing away the angry I had towards them
J- I'm sorry..
Co- me too
D- it's okay, I can't hold a grudge forever
they chuckled as I let go an turned to Bombay, he gave me a huge hug making me smile as he did
B- take care kid, stay out of trouble
D- you are telling that to the wrong Portman
he chuckled before I gave Mr. Tibbles an Ms. McKay a hug, than it was Adam's turn.. I looked at him an tears were flooding my eyes in seconds.. I was really about to leave him, I ran to him (cheesy) an hugged him so tight as he did the same to me.
D- I'm not ready to go..
A-I know, but we will see each other soon.. you won't be able to get rid of me that easily D
we pulled away an he wiped the tears off my face resting his hands on my face before giving my a kiss on the forehead like he always did.. than his flight along with the rest of the teams flight got called leaving just Dean an I, Adam turned to me once more an I ran hugging him again before kissing his cheek
D- we will see each other again?
A- I promise we will..
i nodded as he walked to the gates entering the plane leaving me to stand with my luggage an Dean
De- told you that you were gonna get attached you idiot.
D- shut it.
our flight was called shortly after so we entered the plane sadly having to sit next to each other
De- if you listened to me than you wouldn't be sitting her sulking over him
I flipped him off putting on my head phones realizing this was gonna be a long flight. we arrived to Chicago an it was already almost dark out. I was so tired from the flight that I swear I could have fallen asleep walking. we got off the flight an grabbed our luggage before walking outside the airport to see our mom waiting for us
E-Dean, Dakota!
We both turned her with smiles on our faces, I ran to my mom despite being mad at her for not showing up, I hugged her so tight as she did the same to me before focusing Dean to join the hug
E-i miss you both so much!! you both are gonna have to tell me all about it once we get home!
we agreed an got into the truck, our house was a half hour away from the airport so you can already guess what im doing the whole way. once we got home I put my headphones around my neck as we entered the house, it was clean which didn't surprise me since mom had the house to herself for almost a whole month or so we thought. I put my stuff on my bed in my room since mom told us to "wash up" for dinner. i only washed my hands an took off my shoes before heading back down the stairs to help her set the table as I usually did. Dinner was awkward, anyone from a mile away could feel the tension at the table
E-okay what's the deal? I can practically feel like fighting radiating off you both.
I locked eyes with Dean him basically pleading for me not to tell mom but I had other plans
D-Dean broke one of the main promises that he had made me before we left
E-wait which one? the promise to protect you or the one that had to deal w your friends?
D-the second one.
She gasped an looked at Dean clearly shocked that he had broken that rule
E-Dean Portman, start explaining yourself!
De-it wasn't on purpose ma!
D-oh so you accidentally locked lips with her more than once?!
He looked right at me clearly pissed
De-will you shut up Dakota?! You don't know anything!
D-I know what I was told! you clearly just love to ruin my life for your own needs because your a selfish prick!
He got up fast an so did I, this was a normal thing for us. we always got into physical fights nothing to bad to actually hurt one another but enough to leave red marks an maybe a little bruising. this was one of those fights, him tackling me on the ground an me slapping him as our mom tired pulling us apart.

We both stopped fast an looked up seeing him.. Scott Portman aka our father.. we both stood up shocked seeing our mom smiling clearly showing she knew
D-what the hell..
S-surprise!
Dean ran to hug him while I stood still, worst surprise ever.
