On the Ice

Part 15 (again @Vickystories21 co-writer) (Adam is back on the ice btw)

the big Iceland game was today an I was nervous to say the least, I stayed in my dorm trying to prepare myself the whole time. Adam brought me breakfast an we hung out a bit before we had to go to the game, we got into the locker room and got into gear. getting on the ice was just as nerve racking, Bombay went over the plays and I was on the ice first. right off the bat I was getting knocked to the ground by the Iceland players, I got right up and skating down the ice. I was opened an yelled for Charlie to pass it but he ignored me an passed to Dwayne who had like 4 Iceland guys on him! I was annoyed but shrugged it off continuing to play. this happened a lot through out the game, the enforcers weren't protecting me an no one on the team expect Adam would pass to me.  I was invisible to the team and it was my fault which lead to now, I was open again yelling for Guy to pass it but he just ignored me passing to Connie who got checked to the ground. I was getting fed up with them at this point, I skated right to Guy

D- I get it you are pissed at me but we are getting eaten alive out here! I'm still apart of this team!

he turned his head to me in two point five seconds of those finally words leaving my mouth

G- no you aren't! after today you will be gone, you aren't a duck and you never will be!

he skated away from me leaving me shocked by his words, I mean he was right.. I wasn't a duck, I was just a player helping them win.. I skated to the bench removing my helmet chugging down my water as I watched them play. Bombay put me on the ice once more an I was facing off, Gunnar was in front of me he tried to be intimidating but I blocked him out. I won the face off an passed to Jesse right as Gunnar knocked me down hard. I bit down my anger an got up fast like I always did skating down to block the Iceland players but again I was checked into the boards by Olaf causing me to hit the ice. I would be lying if my body was burning an in pain from all the hits but I still got up an played. Finally it was half time (again I don't play hockey so I don't know what they call it!) we sat in the locker room our helmets off as Bombay spoke

B- we are getting destroyed out there, at this rate we will be sure a lose

Je- at least we have our pride

B- no that's not pride Jesse, sure when Dwayne took down that big Iceland guy part of me cheered but the other part of me knew we weren't like them. I notice something on that ice today something that I was not proud of. I watched every single one of you guys expect Adam ignore Dakota on that ice, she was opened plenty of times able to score us a goal but you guys let your petty actions get the better of you. I don't know what drama is going on with you all but it has to stop now, you guys are supposed to be a team

F- we don't want to play with her Coach! you weren't there at the other practice, you didn't see what went down!

the team agreed with Fulton's statement while I stayed quiet, I stood in the back against the lockers not wanting to intervene

B- trust me Ms. McKay saw it all an she told me everything. Look I understand you guys have issues you need to sort out an I need you guys to sort it out now. if you guys even want a shot at winning this you need to work together, you don't have to be all buddy buddy but I need you guys to be willing to work together!

I knew no one was gonna say a word so I did it

D- I know you guys uh hate me an you all have right to be. I was being really disrespectful an treating you all like trash. I let my angry get the best of me an I should have handled it different, I never meant to hurt any of you or lash out the way I did. I don't need or want forgiveness from any of you but I do want to win just as much as all you of do, so if we can an if you guys want to can we please just work together on this than you all can go back to be mad at me?

they all looked at each other before Charlie stood facing me

C- I'm willing to work with you Dakota

with that everyone agreed to it, thank god because it would have been weird if they said no. Anyways, we got back to the rink an I was on the bench first watching the game. we were playing better I won't even lie, I got on the ice and was wide open.. Charlie passed me the punk an I scored us a point. the team cheered an so did I, the game went on. we worked together an honestly it helped us player better, but than we had to do a shoot out (if that's what they called it). Jesse, Guy, Dwayne, Fulton and Adam were picked to do it. everyone but Dwayne scored, we watched Gunnar shot for his team and Julie caught it. we all cheered so loudly skating to her hugging her, weirdly they hugged me as well but I wasn't complaining. Adam looked at me with a smile before lifting me and spinning me in the air, when he put me down we locked eyes.. it felt as if the world had stopped but before we could do anything Bombay walked over hugging us ruining the moment. Asshole. we had our celebration for the win an I still haven't spoken to Dean nor do I want to, I was upset with my mom since she didn't come to any of our games which what the fuck but I brushed it off an continued to celebrate with the team. we all congratulated Iceland on the game before heading to the locker rooms to change.

Bombay came in as we all were laughing an talking, he was smiling like he won the lottery

B- you guys did it! I couldn't be more proud of you all! Honestly if it was for Dakota's harsh but helpful speech she gave me the other day I would have never came back to the team so for her helpfulness I want to treat you all to dinner!

we all cheered loudly before heading to dinner, he let us all get ready first of course so we all didn't smell like sweat which was good

I walked next to Adam as we all went to the restaurant, we all ordered and started laughing an talking about nonsense. Half way through the dinner Charlie stood up with a glass as if he was about to give a toast which he was

C- I just wanted to give a toast, raise your glasses!

we all listened confused on what he was about to say

C- I just wanted to say, I'm so grateful to be able to have had this opportunity to play in hockey for team USA, if it weren't for Tibbles I would have never got to meet you amazing recruits even you Dakota

I was shocked he included me but I still smiled 

C- even if you went off on all of us you are still one of us no matter what any one says! so raise a toast to Dakota for bringing back our coach an a toast to our win!

we all yelled cheers an clanked our glasses together, I kept looking eyes with Adam who was right next to me but neither of us spoke. we only smiled an went back to talking to everyone else, this was one of the best experience I could have ever had.. I'm not ready to leave, not yet.
