August's P.O.V
I laid on my now made bed, and of course instead of actually taking the time to unpack and set things up in there spot I laid on the bed holding a sketch pad.
Since the high school finished earlier than the elementary school. I lazily sketched before realizing that it looked similar to Melanie. Great.... though it made sense, we had the most Interesting interactions in such a short amount of time and she was the only one that occupied my mind currently.
A small alarm went of on my phone as I quickly reached for it and turned it off. Time to pick up Calum I guess.
I made my way out the house and into the car. I found it Interesting how the new hotel chain my dad works in is requiring most staff to use company cars but luckily it allowed me to use our car.
As I pulled up to the school I quickly exited and made my way to the gate where other parents were also waiting. Once the bell rung most kids ran out while some calmly walked out. But not Calum he ran out while holding another kids hand. Great he just took a kid....
He will always make friends faster than me. "Augie look! This is my new friend Oliver!" I looked at Oliver, he was a small boy of light skin covered in freckles but his most striking feature was his curly red hair. He shyly waved up at me, I simply waved back at him with a soft smile. "Can we go to the park or somewhere to play?" I let out a soft chuckle.
"We need to ask his parents firs.." Calum frowned but then looked at Oliver who tugged at his hand towards another direction.
"We'll go ask!" They ran off but I followed after them, I'm not waiting over there while my innocent brother goes who knows where.
As I followed after him I felt my face flush noticing that they were heading straight towards a familiar black haired girl, Melanie. As I made my way closer she looked up from them towards me. Her eyes widened a bit before a grin made its way on her face.
"August! What a surprise!" I shrugged my shoulders before placing my hand on Calum's head.
"Ya... quite a surprise." She raised a brow, smiling.
"So our brothers wish to hang out. Burger King has food! And a play area. I just have to drag Miles away to get a ride..." I shook my head.
"I brought my car..." She grinned.
"Perfect! I'll force Miles to meet us up there later for a ride back. Olly let's go." She gripped his small hand when it hit me.
"Wait are you two brothers or with Miles?" I whispered towards her.
She let out a small laugh "We are both adopted into the family, so none of us are related by blood. Miles is the only biological soon" She looked down at the two boys, a strange pair with Calum's fluffy brown hair and Oliver's wild curly red hair.
"That's cool...." She grinned at me as I unlocked the door. Quickly the two boys rushed into the back of the car seat which left me and Melanie to go into the front.
Funny enough the ride was wasted on the boys and Melanie singing the crap out of Disney songs. It's so sweet, I'm gonna get a cavity from all this....
"Where here." I turned off the car as the boys quickly ran out of the car. "Hurry!" Calum yelled as we all headed inside. They both went to play leaving me with Melanie to order.
"They sell cheeseburgers here as well." She made her way to the cashier.
"What are you feeling hungry for?" I shrugged my shoulders.
"Don't know.... maybe a spicy chicken and a coke?" She grinned at me.
"Perfecto!" She went to order while I stood a little far trying to see where the boys ran off to. I was so caught up on watching out for them that I didn't notice how long she had been taking. Not until I heard slight laughter, her laughter. Facing the register I got a clear view of Melanie talking to the cashier who was around our age.... They are just talking... Seems more like flirting.
He was clearly into her.... Melanie I'm not so sure if her face has the same grin as always. Fun....
As she finished ordering the guy handed her change and recite in a manner that required them to touch a bit. Why am I focusing so much on this....?
Melanie made her way towards me with some filled up drinks. "He seemed nice..." She chuckled, setting the cups down.
"He's a huge flirt.... Something special for a one time thing, nothing benefitable." She sat down in the booth, staring up at me.
"But don't be jealous! If you agree it will be more than that." She basically purred out the last part, only caucing my face to flush and feel even more nervous.
"I'm still considering it..." I carefully sat down next to her, she used this to lean her body towards me.
"I know darling. And I respect that, trust me..." She leaned her lips near my ear. "Though I'd make sure it was worth your time...." She placed a kiss behind my ear and slowly leaned back but still close enough to my face which I'm pretty sure again was more red than before.
"You're the flirt..." She laughed and moved her drinks straw to her lips.
"Of course I am! But usually not to put on a show.... it seems some friends of ours are here." She tilted her head to the side.
My eyes trailed to where she pointed to notice Harper and Noah were barely entering with a group of people. And their eyes were straight on us.
"Great...."
