*mentions of death*
Melanie's P.O.V
"Where are you?" A voice called out from my phone as I rode an Uber home. "None of your concern...." I mumbled back not in a mood to really talk or converse with this bitch.
I heard a sigh on the other side of the phone "Melanie, your parent's worry about this. It's the fourth time you've fought this month! And the 3rd time we had to cover your ass so it doesn't become a scandal!" He was practically screaming at me now. With all this screaming, I should call him a banshe.
"Oh fuck off Ryder! I'm fine it was just a little fight and all I got was detention! Nothing serious!" I rolled my eyes despite him not being able to see it.
"Stop being a child and than I'll fuck off! You brat..." With that, I hung up on him.
"How annoying....." I whispered out and looked out the car. "Stop here...." The driver pulled up to the destination, and with that, I slipped out after paying. As I stood on the curve hearing the car pull away, I walked closer and closer to my destination.... my father's grave.
It's a cliche thing.... a troubled girl with a dead parent and one walking out of my life long ago... I kneeled down in front of the grave and just stared at the now withering flowers and burned out candles. I forgot matches today, unfortunately. And surprising, lord knows I need a smoke today or an adrenaline rush...
He didn't die here... but he always said about being buried in his hometown.
"How did you always stay positive.... anything bad would happen, and it wouldn't affect your mood... but something happens to me, and I fall apart....." It's been like that since his passing. It wasn't easy seeing the person you care for lose their life before you.
"When mother left, you kept strong. When you found out she cheated and had another kid, you accepted him as your own.... and when Lilly, when she died.... you helped me but I couldn't help you...." I closed my eyes and felt tears spill down my cheeks. If I didn't let you leave, you could still be here.
"Why am I even here...... is it because of him, August, he thinks I'm brave... hell, I'm surprised I've gone on for so long without snapping. " I mumbled out and clenched my hands in fists.
"It's stupid!" I yelled out softly. I took a deep breath and slowly sat up "Sorry father seems like I let my emotions get the best of me.... I'm not used to the whole watching an image... you said that's what made me my mother's daughter. Attitude and zero patience!" I chuckled dryly and let out a small sniffle.
"I should go.... next time I visit, hopefully it will be with a better attitude.... rest well, father...." With that, I walked down the path I came from and heard soft cries. Another funeral takes place, depressing..... as I finally left the cemetery, a car pulled up to the curve.
"Melanie Moreno.... fancy seeing you here...." I scoffed loudly at the said person.
"I'm not in a mood, Noah..." He simply grinned at me.
"I couldn't tell.... here. " He handed me a napkin, I simply observed it before taking it.
"I appreciate it, darling..." He shrugged lightly.
"We don't get along anymore, but I'm not shitty enough to kick you down even more, especially after the cowardly moves of some foxes."
His eyes narrowed as he stared forward, "truly cowardly attacking newbies that are significantly weaker." I exclaimed as I wiped my eyes with the tissue. He sighed and turned to me.
"I'll see you around melodrama!" His laughter was beard as he drove away. "Melodrama? Huh, okay....." I shrugged my shoulders and continued my walk home. When my phone went off again, I looked down at it and hung up... sorry Ryder, I'm still not in a mode.
After a long walk in silence, there was another commotion, but this time, it was a group of boys and girls my age and my snakes? As I walked by them, one noticed me and called for me over, so I did. "Melo! how's it going, boss!" They slurred and wrapped their arm around my shoulder."You should join us~" he laughed and swirled a bottle around. Must be his hidden beer.
I raised a brow, unamused. "You guys are drinking... outside?" One of the girls shook her head. She was clearly more sober than the one with their arm around me.
"No, we're heading to a party, but these morons wanted a pre drink." She rolled her eyes unimpressed while I simply chuckled.
"You know I need a distraction.... let's get wasted!" They cheered happily while the other guy shook me happily.
After that, the night was blurred with partying, drinks, and weed cause why not. Though I'm proud to say I avoided sleeping with a random person and forgetting most of my problems to the point of arriving home at one in the morning so not ready for that hangover in the morning or Miles lecture.
It's not like anything is wrong, at least not with me.... right?
