August's P.O.V
"I heard that Harper messed with Melanie recently!" Casey mumbled out towards me as we walked in the school.
"Really? What did she do?" I gave her a questioning look. She leaned up to me a hand covering the side of her mouth.
"Apparently threatened her and claimed she will have you so she will be alone!" I raised a brow. Have me? Oh honey she isn't really my type of girl. Plus thats already my mother's plan of trying to set me up. Copycat!
"Not interested. Melanie already claimed me so I'm fine with that." She gave me a shocked look gripping my shoulders.
"No! You are aren't you!" She shook me totally freaking out.
"I'm what?" "Falling for Melanie! You are! It's not good! Code red!" She shook me harder.
"Ok relax! I'm not we're just doing the whole friends with benefits thing! No strings attached Casey! And what's wrong with that? Wait how do you know about that rumor?" Her lips went to a straight line looking everywhere but at me.
"Well..... Me and Miles did that before.... I was his special little friend. Falling in love with someone who doesn't want a relationship is hard to get past...." I placed my hand over her arms giving it a small squeeze.
"I'm sorry Casey.... Don't worry I won't fall in love... I promise..." She let out a small chuckle
"Well I can't control you emotions but be careful, love is beautiful but hard thing... but try a bit more then you did with trying to not be sassy" She smiled while I simply chuckled.
"Ok let's get going! Though you haven't answered how you got the information?" She shrugged
"I just so happened to be there and over heard what was happening!" I shook my head lightly.
"Well let's keep this information hush hush then?" She nodded her head as we continued walking.

Melanie sat quietly at lunch today, everyone was chatting away but she simply ate in silence, well barley ate just small nibbles. I leaned over to her to speak without being heard by the others.
"What's wrong Melanie? You seem upset, do you want to go somewhere private?" She looked up at me with her dark brown eyes.
"I- um just don't feel like myself.... can we go to my car?" I nodded my head. Melanie leaned towars Miles getting the key. I followed after her throwing my food away and setting the tray down.
Once we got in the car she wrapped her arms around me burying her face into my chest.
"Your cuddly all of a sudden?" She let out a small chuckle followed by a sniff. "I don't know why but I just feel like crying and breaking down for no reason..." She choked out.
"This isn't like me...." She laughed lightly. I simply wrapped my arms more around her holding her tightly as she let out soft sobs. My chest tightend from hearing her soft cries. She sounded so broken and scared as she clung to me.
"I miss my dad.... being a nobody.... cause I'm not brave! August I'm not your brave girl!" She turned to look up at me as tears ran down her face.
"You are brave.... maybe you don't see it right now but you are.... you're my brave girl as I am your little artist..." She smiled softly up at me, she leaned closer to me placing her lips on mine in a soft kiss.
"I'm so glad I meet you August truly..." She whispered out giving me another soft kiss, I leaned in to the kiss as well letting out a small hum. She pulled back with a soft smile and layed her head on my chest.
"I'm so.... tired..." She whispered out reaching for my hand, closing her fingers around them.
"Sleep we can skip the last two periods... your more important right now..." She let out a small chuckle.
"You important to.... night night Augie..." her breathing became more softer as she feel asleep. My eyes started to feel heavy as well until she stirred with a whimper.
"Lilly.... Tessa.... I'm sorry.... not my fault....." She cried out softly, I wrapped my arms around her more trying to calm her.
"It's okay Melanie it wasn't your fault...." Whatever it is you did? She calmed slightly leaning more into me.
Whatever it is that's causing her to break down involved her past and Lilly and Tessa. But what did she do? And who are they?
