*minor mention of death and body image*
Melanie's P.O.V
I slumped back in the car seat and stared out the window, refusing to look towards him. My past is different than most people think it would be but it doesn't mean it's a happy one at that.
"I'm also from Reno, born and raised until freshmen year. My mother left me when I was a baby so I was mostly raised by my father. He passed away in freshmen year, heart attack while at work..." August pulled me closer to him, I leaned in more but still refused to look up at him.
"Before that I was dating someone. A girl well a typical bad girl you could say. We were fine but I was struggling with my weight. I didn't always look this way, I was short and chubby and well completely gay at the most part...." I pulled at the sleeves of my shirt, a nervous habit I had longed to get rid of.
"Everything they said got to me... I ruined my relationship with her and hated myself, my body mostly. And then with my dad now gone I was scared, ashamed and alone. But my dad was best friend's with Miles dad, when they heard the news they took me in as one of their own." I let go off my sleeves and reached for his hand instead.
"They allowed me to take the rest of the school year off, being home schooled instead. And I started losing the weight off. Not to prove them wrong but for myself to be strong. That girl we meet dad's recently married a wealthy widow and moved over here, I've been trying to avoid her best I could."
"She jealous that you've become hotter and more successful then her." He cut in, I let out a small laugh squeezing his hand tighter. Ready to reveal another secret.
"If I'm being honest I'm afraid of being alone. That's why this whole special friend thing started, so I wouldn't be alone..." He pulled me closer to him kissing the top of my head.
"Does anyone else know?" I sighed "Miles does but he works sometimes so I can't always have him around. The others I haven't really said much like I did to you... I'm sorry I ruined our date.." He smiled.
"You didn't and it's not over yet. Trade with me I have an idea of where to go." I looked up at him with curios eyes, he reached for the door opening it I simply followed after him trading seats.
"You have your license right?" He chuckled "Of course! If I didn't I would have just put the GPS on for you to follow." He smiled warmly, all I could do was smile back at him.
"I'm glad you told me the truth. Now there's nothing between us and we can help each other grow together..." I let out a strained smiled, I told he most of everything but not the whole truth. I gripped the necklace around my neck tightly, but I can't tell him the full truth..... I want to forget it but she here now....

August's P.O.V
I stopped at an arcade place that beemed with lights and joy. I've seen it before when we were coming and even took Calum here before.
"An arcade... I love it cutie!" She pulled me in for a quick kiss.
"It's like and arcade but it also reminds me of a fair. So double the fun I guess" I smiled down at her.
"The switch thing was a surprise and so is this! You certainly are full of surprises." my cheeks warmed up.
"Arcade! Fun let's go!" I jumped out of the car hearing Melanie's loud laugh. She followed me out as we made our way to the arcade. I walked up to the cashier lady and placed down 40 dollars. There goes my allowance. She handed me two bands.
"I could have helped pay" Melanie commented as I wrapped a band around her.
"I wanna treat you, you payed at the cafe earlier it's only fair." She puckered her lips and placed the band around my wrist as well.
"Fine... I pay for the next thing!" I nodded my head dragging her to a ride her eye's sparkled. I avoid the part where she basically applied a part two.
"Wow... This place reminds me of adventuredome and circus circus in Vegas a bit." I tilted my head to the right.
"You've been to Vegas?" She smiled sadly.
"Once for my birthday. Me and my dad saved enough money for a trip there.... good times..." She slumped up against me and walked me to a booth.
"Cute wolf.... let's win it! Try to get a pair!" She excitedly asked the guy and simple enough he said! A bullseye he said!
I missed a shot twice until my third shot, Melanie missed her first but hit her second one, she's good not gonna lie. He handed us the wolf plush after a while of trying. Melanie pressed both the snouts against one another like a kiss.
"Unlike most believe a wolf is one of my favorite animals unlike the snake a close second.." She started walking.
"Really? Then why not the wolf's or something?" She chuckled "To basic! We would have to call our family the wolf pack and that's just corny!" She gripped my hand as we ran to another booth.
We did that almost the whole afternoon until we stood at a ride. "I will pass out on that!" She laughed
"Let's see who passes out first then? Though I never have passed out on a ride before. Though I never rode a ride that does this before?" I gave her a questioning look but smiled.
"Spins you around? Ya fun! Come on lets put them in a complementary bag and ride!" She smirked.
And as expected no one passed out! Ok well Melanie may have almost did but she mostly screamed out random quotes she's seen on the internet. It was fun.... and then Melanie dragged me to a carousel.
"I've always wanted to ride one! I never knew why I didn't though?" She leaned closer to the horse as it spun us around slowly.
"There not really everywhere nowadays, and most prefer a ferries wheel to this anyway" She sighed.
"That is true cutie." She looked around us and leaned closer to my side of the carousel. I leaned closer to her out of curiosity. She pressed a soft kiss to my lips before pulling back with a soft smile. "Thanks for this..... I'm glad I meet you August...." I felt my heart rate increase.
"Anytime.... And I'm glad I meet you too Melanie...." I whispered out her name softly. Things are much more different then I expected them to be, but I don't regret any of it.
