Chapter Twelve

Chapter 12

“Where the hell have you been?!” Noah roared for the 6th time, the thing is everything I went to answer him he would talk over me so I’ve just gave up. “Answer me Marie!”

“I would but you don’t give me chance!” I stated back bravely, I have no idea where that came from.

“Don’t talk to me like that! Your mother and father left me to look after you but how can I do that when I don’t know where you are?!” Noah growled back

“Okay I’m sorry”

“That still doesn’t explain where you were now does it”

“I was with a friend from school we went to get a coffee” I didn’t want to mention who it was, I don’t know how Noah would react if I told him it was a boy, not that it has anything to do with him.

“Who was it?”

“That’s none of you business” I bit back

This time Noah moved really close to me then gripped my chin between his index finger and his thumb. “Oh baby that was the wrong answer” I didn’t understand his words until I felt a sharp tingle on my face.

Noah had just slapped me, he slapped me. I couldn’t believe that just happened by swiftly raised my hand to my cheek which was radiating heat.

“I told you this morning Marie; you won’t like it when I’m angry.” He eyes were cold and hard as he edged closer to me once more. He’s getting more terrifying every time we meet, it’s only been a few days and he’s here for at least a month?! Where did Melissa find this one?

Before he could come any closer the door opened, Noah threw himself back from me.

“Hello?” Melissa called out; I don’t think I have ever been so happy to see her.

“Oh hey babe, how was work?” Noah started to move towards her then embraced her in a hug.

“It was fine baby, how was your day? Did you go to that meeting? And oh hey Marie” as she was speaking she just made her way into the kitchen, I saw my chance to escape to my room.

I jumped up and made my way to the stairs until Noah, of course pulled me back by my arm and whispering

“Don’t you dare tell Melissa anything about this, you’ll live to regret it... Oh and cover your face up, can’t have Melissa seeing that and asking questions can we?” I just shook my head at him, my voice had deserted me. “Good, oh don’t think I have forgotten about our conversation” with that he let me go and carried out into the kitchen answering Melissa questions about his day.

Once I entered my room, I promptly made my way to the mirror to look at the work of Noah. I gasped in surprise to see that my cheek was bright red and swollen, he caught me right under the eye. Ugh I really hope that won’t leave a bruise even though I can see the purple already forming on my face. I ran to my draw grabbing my foundation, like I’ve said before I’m not good with make-up. I just caked my face with foundation hoping it would cover the red. Thankfully it did but it was still obvious that my cheek was puffy. Well it’s the best I can do.

I made my way back down the stairs with my phone. I found Melissa and him in the kitchen, Melissa doing something by the oven while Noah just watched from the bar stool. I dropped myself on the same stool as this morning, furthest away from Noah.

“So Marie; how was school?” Melissa spoke turning to me

“It was the same”

“Well did anyone say anything about your new look?” This time it was him that spoke

“No.” I turned my head down to my phone, hoping they would get the message that I didn’t want to talk, but unfortunately Melissa didn’t really understand and carried on the conversation

“Well I don’t know why, I thought you looked nice this morning. What did Megan think about it? Thats her name right”

“She liked it”

“That’s all she said?” Drop it already!

“Yes”

“Oh” Was all she said before she carried on doing whatever she was doing.

A few minutes passed before I received a text

‘Had a great time today girlfriend ;)’ – Hot stuff

I giggle left my mouth; I couldn’t believe Jake had saved his name as ‘hot stuff’

‘Yeah me to, I had fun and hot stuff really?’ – Marie

Instantly I had a reply

‘Don’t deny it babe, we both know I’m hot ;) don’t forget I’m picking you up tomorrow’ –Hot Stuff

‘Don’t worry I haven’t, I’ll be ready x’ – Marie

I didn’t get a reply after that, I was made to sit in silence as Melissa cooked and Noah was on his laptop. When dinner was put on the table I didn’t protest, I ate a reasonable amount of food without getting questions asked, it was okay though this just means I skip it tomorrow. Once i had eaten what I wanted I was excused from the table. I took my shower and then decided to try and get an early night hopefully not to be interrupted again.  

I was awoken in the night once again by my room creaking open. I turned my head to the side seeing it was 3:07am. No this couldn’t be happening again. I didn’t have time to move so i just pulled the covers over my head, hoping it would add as protection.

“Ah love, please don’t hide from me, it won’t help you” His voice was quiet but radiated dangerous. I felt his body move over me on my body; I let couple of whimpers leave my mouth. He pulled the covers from over me by once again I found his hand over my mouth, tears threatened to spill over.

“Now you going to be quiet again aren’t you?” I nodded, and then sucked in a deep breath as his hand was removed. “You left some of your dinner again Marie, I let you get away with it tonight but you won’t again.” He spoke between the kisses he was trailing down my collar bone. I squirmed under his body trying to get free before his body became rigid over me, looking me in the eye, I could see they were again empty and cold.

“Now Marie I have left you to think about your next words carefully and to tell me the truth. So we will try it again. Who. Were. You. With?” He spoke through clenched teeth. Feared raised throughout my body, I couldn’t tell him it was Jake, who else could I say it was?

“I was with Megan”

“Oh really, are you sure about that?”

“Yes, I know who I was with”

“And so do I”
