Chapter 22
School was closed the next day too. Jake dropped me home a while ago and I went straight to my room not waiting to run into Noah any time soon but I knew I couldn’t avoid him forever. But I wasn’t going to let him get me down at this minute; I’ve had to great days with Jake and finally got a lot of things of my chest.
I was now sitting on my bed going through Facebook, there wasn’t any gossip though nor surprisingly anything about me. I decided for the first time in ages I was going to update my status.
‘Had a brilliant couple of days with a special someone :)’ and post, I wasn’t expecting anyone to write on it seeing as no one does. I sat in silence for a while until a grumble echoed throughout my room, I giggled to myself looking out at my stomach. Well I guess I’m going to be hungry, I haven’t really ate properly for a few days.
Decided to be brave and face the music of my sister and him, I made my way the stairs rather quickly and into the kitchen. And yep there they were, sitting around the dining table.
“Marie, I want to talk to you” Melissa said in a very serious voice.
“Can I just get something to eat, I’m starving” I didn’t even wait for a reply; I carried on to the fridge, grabbed some butter and ham and went back over to the counter. I pulled out two slices of white bread from the bread bin and a plate from the rack and buttered my bread.
Once I finished making my sandwich, put everything back in the fridge then made my way to the table. Noah and Melissa were sat side by side on one side of the table to I took the seat opposite them.
“Well there are a few things me and Melissa would like to discuss with you” Noah stated with a hard glaze upon me.
“Well go on then” I really don’t know how that came out of my mouth but after I had told everything to Jake, I felt a bit more safe. I didn’t want to be scared little Marie anymore, I wanted to be confident like everyone else.
“Marie” Melissa growled giving me a warning glare, well same old Melissa is back.
“We have decided to set some rules”
“Rules! What kind of rules?” Who did they think they are setting rules? Not even mom or dad set rules they just didn’t really care.
“Well if you should shut up Noah could tell you” Melissa snapped at me
“Rule one, you are to come straight home from school, no stopping for anything, we expect you to be home on time, Rule two, you aren’t allowed to go out after hour-“
“After hours? What your setting me a bedtime now?!” I was really beginning to lose my patience with those two idiots, just as I start to get a life they have to ruin it.
“Yes after hours, you are to be in on the night for 9:00pm”
“That’s a load of bullshit! I’m not doing that!”
“YES YOU ARE” Melissa shouted harshly standing up leaving the chair to bang up against the wall. I’m pretty sure that when she moved there’s going to be a mark on the wall. She hammered her fists down on the table leaning down to me. “You will do as your told Marie, we are the adults and you’re the child!”
“But don’t you remember when you were this age? Huh are have you forgotten? You didn’t listen to mom and dad when they told you not to go out did you!” My voice was getting higher and louder. I stood up abruptly making my chair skid across the floor then falling over with a bang. I didn’t even flinch by the sound; I was more than pissed now. “No, you still went out whoring around with those egotistical morons who thought everyone wanted them when they really looked like sloth out of the Goonies!”
