Chapter 25
“Where were you?”
“Where was she?”
“Where did you find her?”
“Why did you run off like that?!”
All these questions were being fired at me and Noah just as we stepped into the house and of course Melissa was in hysterics and Jake seemed to be pretty angry. His eyes were dark when I entered the house then as soon as he saw Noah behind me his eyes hardened and turned into black pits.
“So are you going to explain where you went Marie?” Jake demanded
“I uh we you see uh” I panicked, I couldn’t just say ‘Noah kidnapped me and told me all about my parents and how my family are lairs, then he had a change of heart and now on the same side’ yep pretty sure that wouldn’t turn out great.
“Well?” Jakes voice was bordering on annoyed and irritated as well as being worried.
“Uh I-
“She was with me, I saw her wondering on the phone with someone and she tripped up so I helped and I guess we lost track of time” Noah replied quickly. Noah my hero who would of thought, this day seems to be getting weirder and weirder.
I think Melissa brought it but the same couldn’t be said for Jake, he was now a lot more specious. I could see him focusing on something, like the cogs in his head were ticking trying to figure something out.
“Well at least your okay, but you could have phoned! Do you know how scary it is when I have some boy knocking on my door telling me what you had gone missing?! Think of what I would have to tell mom and dad, they would kill me knowing that I lost you!” Melissa snapped.
“This is always about you isn’t it! I could be lying in a hospital bed and all you would care about is your fucking self!” I barked back before whipping myself around and stomped up the stairs.
I couldn’t believe after everything she was just the same old self-centred Melissa. I marched into my dark room making sure to slam the door behind me then jumping in my bed, burying my head in my pillow letting out a muffled scream. I was glad finding out that she wasn’t my sister, I’m so happy that we are not really blood related.
I could hear the distant voices of them downstairs, but I had no intention of listening to what they had to say. I was more worried about Jake, I knew he didn’t believe that story and I know that he isn’t going to be happy about me being with Noah.
I heard a slight creak of the door notifying me that someone was now in my room; I really hope it isn’t Melissa for her sake. If it is she will be walking out of here headless, oh well seeing as she will have no head she will be more like stumbling and walking into the door. I let out a giggle at the thought. Then the door was shut behind them. I wouldn’t know who it was seeing as I hadn’t turned any light on but I think I knew who it was.
“What’s so funny” A low calm voice asked, I felt the bed dipping next to me. A warm hand came into contact with the bare skin on the bottom of my bed where my top had risen up. I relaxed into my soft mattress as the hand began to make little circles on the bare skin, then the movement stopped.
“Please don’t stop” I sighed into the pillow.
“How about a deal then, you tell me what really happened tonight and I’ll carry on” Jake replied softly but at the same time I could sense danger behind his words. I shifted my body so that I was lying on my left side and, resting my head on my left arm and flicking my bedside lamp on before gazing up at Jake.
