Chapter 2- The secret

Sorry I took such a long time to update.  I was so busy.. Well here is chapter 2 of the book. :) Hope you like it -E.

Renee POV.

I decided to visit Bella. We haven't talked in a while since the wedding. 4 years ago.. It was the perfect time to go. Phil was traveling to New York, so I could just come here. I had wanted to go with him but he insisted that I should visit Bella. He was right. I missed my daughter.

I arrived in Forks this morning. I went to Charlie's to ask if he knew where Bella was. She would be living with Edward now.  He was surprised to see me there. Charlie looked good. Happy. I was glad he was doing okay.

He gave me her new address and we talked for a while. He told me all about Bella. He also mentioned that it was someone's birthday today..but I forgot who exactly.. Oh well. Hopefully I'll find out again later. I rushed over to Bella's eager to see her.

When I got there she opened the door and looked surprised.

"Mom?", she asked in complete shock.

She was really surprised that I was here. Oh no. Maybe I should have called first and let her know I was coming. She did hate surprises after all..

"Bella! Baby! Oh, I have missed you so much! How are you?! You look so beautiful! How is your life?". I asked her. She looked so different. I barely recognized her for a second. I almost wanted to cry. My daughter is all grown up now..

We hugged and Bella slowly let go.

"I'm great.. Mom, what are you doing here?"

"I wanted to come and visit you. I missed you so much. I wanted to see how you're doing and wanted to be close to you again. We haven't talked in how many years.." I explained. She seemed to relax a little.

"Okay. Well come inside" she told me. I walked in.

I was so happy to see that she was okay and doing well. She showed me around her home. The house was beautiful! Wow! I loved it. I wonder if Esme helped to design it. Maybe.. I'll ask would later.

"So where is Edward?" I wondered as Bella was showing me around. I wanted to say hello.

"In the kitchen. We just ate so he is cleaning up", she explained and walked me over to the kitchen. Bella was just about to open the door when she suddenly stopped.

"Mom, wait!" She gasped. I wondered what was wrong. "Before we go in, I need to talk to you", she explained calmly. What was going on? I was worried.

She lead me to the living room. I sat on the couch after her. She hesitated. I was about to talk when she finally started.

"Okay mom. Edward and I have a daughter".

I was shocked. Happy. Angry.. My emotions were all over the place. How could nobody tell me this?! Why wouldn't they!? How and when did this happen? I am a grandmother. I was way to young to be one..but that doesn't matter.

"Why didn't anyone tell me? You? Charlie?  When did this happen?" I burst out.

Bella sighed. She was about to talk but stopped. Suddenly Edward came out the kitchen and sat beside Bella.

"Hi Renee. It's a surprise to see you here." He told me and smiled wide.

"Hello Edward." I couldn't help but smile back. Edward looked the same. He didn't even look a tad older.

Pushing those thoughts away, I went back to the subject.

"So..Tell me about the baby", I smiled slightly.

Edward laughed. "Well, Renee, the baby isn't a baby anymore". What was he talking about. I was so confused. Bella sighed and Edward rubbed her back, I guess to calm her down.

Edward continued. "She is now 15. Her birthday is today". He spoke calmly.

I looked at Bella and Edward in shock. How was their child 15 years old. That made no sense. They both probably saw my confused face. Edward looked over to Bella and it looked like he said something but I didn't think so. I wasn't sure.

"Mom, the baby is adopted." Bella spoke quietly and looked down. Edward started to rub her back more.

'Oh', I thought. That explains it. Could my daughter not have kids. Is that the reason she adopted a child?..

"Bella! You adopted a teenager. Are you ready for this kind of responsibility?" I asked her. She looked up and was angry.

"Of coarse I'm ready for this kind of reponsibility! I'm not a child anymore mom! I'm an adult. This is why nobody told you anything because I knew you would act like this and flip out on me." She gestured her hands towards me and shouted.

I was shocked. Bella never acted this way towards me. I felt bad now.

"You know what mom. I don't need any of this. I don't care what you think about my choices. I am happy. She isn't just some random teenager mom. She is special. Edward and I love her more that our own lives. If you don't accept that then you can go".

With that she got up and left going upstairs.
