How could this happen? He checked all the hallways, every path she could've possibly taken yet somehow she got injured. Y/N lost so much blood after being cornered and beat up, Nina feared she might not make it and it would be all his fault. Maybe he shouldn't have sent her down that side of the building. Maybe he shouldn't have sent her by herself, he should've gone with her. Maybe-
A knocking on the door broke him out of his thoughts, "Come in." "Kaz..." Jesper pushed the door open slowly, "She's awake." Kaz stood up at once, "Are you sure?" Jesper nodded with a small smile, "Yeah, I was just in there with her. She's asking for you." Kaz limped around his desk determined to get to Y/N quickly. "You love her don't you?" His head snapped up as he shot Jesper a sharp look. Hands raised in surrender he chuckled a bit, "It's true isn't it?" "Shut up."
Kaz pushed past him and down the hallway to Y/N's room, but he couldn't ignore the feeling in his heart whenever he thinks of Y/N. He couldn't keep denying his feelings for her, no matter how hard he tried. He stopped at her door and knocked three times.
"Come in." Her voice was so quiet he barely heard it through the thick wooden door. He limped through the door and saw Y/N with a messy bun and a tired smile. "Hi." Her voice was hoarse from lack of water and her skin was pale from the blood loss.
Which was your fault. He shook his head and reached to fill up the glass with water next to her bed. "How are you doing?" He scoffed, "I should be asking you that, not the other way around." Y/N smiled in thanks as he handed her the glass and sat down next to her, "You had me worried, you know? All of us, Nina thought you might not make it."
Y/N coughed, "Well, you shouldn't doubt me, you know that already." He chuckled, "Yeah... I learned that one the hard way, huh?" Y/N giggled and drank the rest of the water before placing it on the side table again. Kaz watched as she fought a yawn and tried to stay awake, "You should sleep. You need to rest anyway. I just came to check on you."
She nodded and got under her blanket again, "It's nice to know the Kaz Brekker cares for me." He chuckled as she turned around and pulled the blanket up to her chin before he headed to the door. But before he could close the door behind him, he looked to Y/N one more time as Jesper's words echoed in his head.
"You love her don't you?"
He smiled, "Yeah, I love her."
