"Y/N!"

The slam of Kaz's door echoed through the Slat, no one daring to go up the stairs, already knowing who it was. Y/N and Kaz never really saw eye to eye, everyone knew this and expected slamming doors and loud arguments. That didn't mean they didn't care for each other, everyone also knew this. They argued more often than not but they never really had to talk it out after or get resolved. It was a strange understanding between the two that the words that were spat out didn't carry any real meaning. No harm done.

Wylan sighed to himself, "When are they going to grow up and realize that they're always fighting because they have feelings for each other? I'm really sick of it." Nina nodded, "I'll be dead before that day ever comes through. The both of them are stubborn mules." Murmurs of agreement spread amongst the group when the sound of footsteps was heard marching down the stairs.

"I'm going out." Y/N didn't look their way as she walked to the front door, slamming it behind her. The clicking of Kaz's cane was heard soon after, "Where did she go?" Jesper shrugged, "Didn't say." With a roll of his eyes, Kaz marched back up the stairs, muttering to himself.

"Those two are going to be the death of each other."

Kaz looked at the clock on his desk as he heard the bell tower ring ten bells. It was late, and he still hasn't heard Y/N walk back to her room. She was never out this late. An uneasy feeling settled in the pit of his stomach as he watched the clock hands tick for each passing second. With a loud sigh, he picked up his cane, coat, and hat and walked out of his room.

Eleven bells rang throughout the streets of Ketterdam as the rain started to soak through Kaz's shoes and the cold wind flew through his coat. He felt his knee ache, making every step slower but he never let them stop. He had searched all over the barrel for Y/N and couldn't find her anywhere. After walking two circles around the Dregs' territory and sneaking into Dime Lion's turf a few times he gave up. He pushed open the Slat door, slower than normal since the cold weather made his joints a bit creaky. Looking past the confused glances and stares from the rest of the crows, he limped up the stairs slowly, his cane dragging behind him as he leaned heavily on the railing.

Sighing in frustration, he pushed the door to his room open, hanging his coat and hat on their respective hooks. He slid his shoes off and rested his cane against the wall.

"I was wondering when you'll be back."

Kaz tried his best to hide his surprise as he turned around and saw Y/N sitting at his desk in his chair. She bit back a smirk, "Inej told me you went out and she said you went looking for me. Was she wrong to assume so?" Kaz only glared at her for a bit longer before he walked to his bathroom and turned on the sink.

"So she wasn't wrong then... Interesting."

He could hear the pride in her voice which caused him to roll his eyes. Taking off his gloves, he splashed his face with the cold water, quickly drying his hands. "Where were you?" His voice was raspy but didn't surprise the girl sitting in his chair.

"Went to my parent's house. Why? Were you worried?" She spoke and watched him walk closer till he stood beside her, waiting for his chair back. "You don't get the chair till you tell me if you were worried about me."

He huffed, "Yes. I was worried. Now get out of my chair."

She stood and gave him an overexaggerated bow before walking to the door. She paused and turned around, "Just so you know... I worry about you sometimes too." She quickly walked to the door and closed it behind her. A smile graced her lips as she skipped to her room, excited to see where this left them.
