Your baby's condition is improving! Normally, a surgery like this could take a toll on an infant's life. But your baby is a fighter! She is going to live her life, just the way you want to!" Anu said, handing the small breathing bundle of joy to her mother!

The mother smiled tearfully, as she kissed her baby. Anu sighed at the sight! No matter how many babies she delivers, no matter how familiar all it gets, but she could never get enough of the sight of a joyous family around a newborn! Every time she hands a baby to its mother, she feels fulfilled! She feels immensely satisfied! As if she was born to do this! To bring new lives into the world!

That night as she crashed on the couch in her living room, though, all her gratefulness for being a gynaecologist vanished in thin air! It has been like this for a few days! To be exact, since the day she saw him! No matter what she did, she just could not take her mind off of a certain face! The only time she could distract herself, was when she was at work!

She was having sleepless nights now more than ever! No matter how much she hated him, she couldn't help but agree that he had grown into a handsome young man! His sculpted face was the most gorgeous thing Anu had ever seen!
But, she was not a silly teenager anymore who would fangirl over a man judging by his looks! She knew better! Thanks to her epic relationship failure!

Despite her hatred towards him, she couldn't help but get curious about his life! How was he in Bangalore?

Did he become a cardiologist as he always wanted to be?

What happened to Shiksha stationers?

How come Radhika ended up with a baby at such a young age?

Why did he break up with her all those years ago?

And the most bugging one- Did he move on?

She had a lot of questions! But no answers! At times her mind would explode with his thoughts and it would become unbearable! After a point, she would hate herself, for still caring so much for him! For getting affected by his actions and his whereabouts! He doesn't deserve this care! He doesn't deserve her love! She reminded herself!

She made herself a hot cup of coffee and settled on her couch by the window! She sighed looking at the bustling street below her building. Even at 8 at night, people were buying and selling the essentials as if that's what all that mattered for them! A few years back, Anu would have felt these things trivial! Mainly because that was the time when she would get anything she wanted within a snap of her fingers! She was living the best life anyone could have asked for! However, now, she could easily discern what real 'life' means! She has developed that survival instinct, to get through a day at a time! To save for the future, to cut back on unnecessary expenses and all that a middle-class person does to get through life!

Since her change of habitat, though she did not hate her old life, she did not miss that either. If given a choice, she would gladly choose this mediocre life over the rich one. Because it was this life that taught her that real life is not rainbows and sunshine! Love is not only beautiful but also painful! The materialistic luxuries she had in the past were just a reminder that she was born lucky!

She sighed, shook her head to herself, and scrolled through her phone, just to distract herself. That's when she frowned at a missed call notification she never saw until that moment! She opened it to get her breath knocked out of her chest! One more thing that had happened in the past few years was that she had lost all her friends! Ronit, Neha, Astha, everyone! No, not because she didn't need them but because if she would remain in touch with them, an unsaid ominous cloud of a person would always remain around her! And, the Anu whose world revolved around that heartless person once, now wanted nothing to do with him!
Immediately after graduation, having a hard time for a few months dodging all her friends' calls, she had finally changed her number.
But that doesn't mean she did not save this friends contacts in her new card!
