14. Christmas Eve

It was Christmas Eve, the day of the annual Christmas Party at Grimmauld Place.

Harry, Ginny, Ron and Hermione were decorating the rooms, the ballroom, living room, the dining room, and also the room specially for their children.

Even the children were helping. They decorated the corridors and stairs and set up the Christmas tree.

They finished their work at around 5pm.

"Okay, children, go have some rest and get ready for the party," Ginny said, "Oh and Scorpius, your father and mother owled a nice dressrobe to you this morning."

"How on earth does he know I need dressrobes?" Scorpius asked astonished.

"I owled him the day before yesterday, I told him you will need dressrobes for the party," Harry chuckled.

"Thanks uncle Harry," Scorpius said.

The children went back to their own rooms and got dressed.

"So what happens at the ball?" Scorpius asked.

"Well, usually there will be the welcoming speech by mum and dad, then there will be one dance, and we children will go to another room and we usually play games and then we have dinner," Albus answered.

"But... who's going to dance with me?" Scorpius asked.

"Well, just see who catches your breath. I don't know who will dance with me as well. No one knows," Albus answered, "But usually we have someone in mind, and we try to ask that person. Tell me, who's on your mind?"

"Well... don't hit me but I was hoping to ask Lily," Scorpius said blushing.

"Ooohhh, I better tell her!" Albus said and rushed out of the room.

"LILY!!!" Albus yelled a knocked on her door.

"Don't! ALBUS!!" Scorpius said.

"What's going on?" Lily asked opening the door.

"Lily! Someone wants to dance with you tonight!" Albus said, and laughed. He closed Lily's door and went back to his own room.

"ALBUS!!" Scorpius yelled.

"So? I didn't tell her who is it!" Albus said still laughing.

Scorpius was clearly frustrated but Oh well, the damage is already done he thought.

The two of them changed into their dressrobes ans went down to the hall.

James, Hugo and Rose were already there. Harry and Ginny came down together, with Ron and Hemione behind them.

"Where's Lily?" Harry asked, as the guests arrive.

"Here!" Lily said, as she came down the hall.

Scorpius' eyes widened as he saw her. She was wearing a beautiful beige cocktail dress, with white heels and a gold necklass.

Albus giggled and nudged him. Scorpius frowned at Albus.

"What's wrong with you Scorp?" a familiar voice sounded, "Why are you frowning?"

Albus and Scorpius turned around and found Molly, with her parents and sister, smiling at them.

"Hey Molly!" Albus said.

"Hi!" Scorpius said.

"Why are you frowning?" Molly asked.

"Nothing, he's just frustrated that I saw him blushing," Albus said.

Molly laughed. "See you guys later!"

After a while, they heard Harry's voice sounding from the front of the hall.

"Welcome to our annual Christmas Party!" Harry greeted his guests.

"Come on," Albus tugged Scorpius, "let's go find Teddy."

"Teddy?" Scorpius asked.

"Your cousin. Remus Lupin and Nymphadora Tonks' son. Dad is his godfather."

"You mean Andromeda's grandson?"

"Yeah. Come on, he's over there. Teddy!"

"Hello Albus! And you are?" Teddy asked nicely.

"This is Scorpius, Teddy, my best friend," Albus said cheerfully.

"Are you a Malfoy?" Teddy asked.

"Yes," Scorpius said, getting tense.

"How's Grandaunt Narcissa? Gran sometimes speak of her and she hopes to meet her and you know, catch up? Help me mention it to her, will you?"

"Sure," Scorpius said, smiling in relief.

"Oh, sorry guys, Victoire's here. I better go say hi. See you two later!"

"Victoire? Does he mean our Head Girl Victoire Weasley?" Scorpius asked Albus, after they were out of earshot of Teddy.

"Yep. They've been secretly dating since summer," Albus said, "Oh look, dad's speech's almost over. Go ask Lily to dance with you!"

"Er..."

"Go!!" Albus said pushing him towards Lily.

"Oh hi Scorpius!" Lily said sweetly, blushing slightly.

"Er... hi Lily, will you... er... dance with me, please?" Scorpius asked, blushing madly.

Lily's eyes shone brightly, "Sure." And took Scorpius hand as they swayed towards the dance floor.

"Can I dance with you?" Molly asked from behind.

"Sure," Albus said smiling brightly. He placed his arm on Molly's waist as they swayed in the music.

The first dance soon ended and all the children made their way towards the room specially for the children where they will spend their time there during the party.
