Harry glanced over from lounging on the soft grass at his boyfriend, watching him remove his red fitted cap from his head and wipe his brow from the excess heat. The smoking barbecue clouded his vision of the Irish boy, but Niall’s bright grin shone through along with the loud laugh that erupted through the smoke. He watched as Niall prodded the sausages and burgers with the tongs carefully, his concentration not fully there but still skilful nonetheless. He was no doubt the master of the barbecue, not even Zayn could steal that title from him with his masterful Sunday Lunches.
The sun beat down on Harry’s face as he lay back down, replacing his sunglasses back on the bridge of his nose and closing his eyes. The grass prickled on his bare back but didn’t deter him from the relaxing sunbathe. Danielle and Eleanor were either side of him, chatting away about some girly matter that he really couldn’t be bothered to listen to. Their tanned bodies were browning even more in their skimpy bikinis that, if Harry was not swinging the other way and if he didn’t have the best boyfriend ever, Harry would’ve found it very hard to resist ogling at their perfect bodies. He could hear the soft hits of the ball being kicked around, presumably passing between Zayn and Liam as Louis was entertaining Niall by the barbecue. A quiet murmur of music was playing some random song in the background, just loud enough to hear but not too loud to cause disruption to the serene atmosphere.
They’d resorted to a simple barbecue at his and Niall’s house due to the surprisingly hot weather; inviting the rest of the lads round along with their respective girlfriend’s for a relaxing day in the sun. Harry not only loved the sun for the warming heat, the happy atmosphere, and the chance to brighten up his pale skin; but he loved it because every time the sun shone, Niall seemed to look even more radiant. His blonde hair lightened to an extra light bleach, bringing out his shining eyes which gleamed bright, mesmerising blue. Unfortunately for Niall, he didn’t seem to tan at all. His skin stayed milky white without fail, no matter what the weather. He thought of it as a curse; but Harry loved it.
Hearing a cheer, Harry was pulled from his thoughts. He opened his eyes, thankful for the dark shades covering them from the blinding sun, to see the girls beside him shuffling upwards and making their way to the patio. Realising the food was ready, Harry stumbled up and dodged past the football game Liam and Zayn were continuing down to the patio.
He reached the table, spotting the other’s sat in the wooden chairs and Niall stood up placing the cooked burgers into buns. Harry laced his arms around the other boy’s waist, placing his chin on Niall’s shoulder and swaying a little.
“Hey” He murmured quietly, burying his head in Niall’s sweaty neck.
“Hey, babe. What d’you want in yours, ketchup?” Niall asked, and Harry only nodded his head in reply. He pressed a kiss only the hot skin, nibbling down on it slightly to cause a small moan to erupt from Niall’s mouth.
“Hey! No hanky panky at the table alright? I want to eat my food in peace!” Liam scolded as he walked by, clipping Harry’s ear on the way playfully. Harry let out an exaggerated whine of hurt, pouting as he settled in the wooden chair beside him.
“Oh shit El, we forgot the drinks!” Danielle chimed, pulling Eleanor from his chair and dragging her back into the house. No more than a minute later, they pranced out the house, jug in hand along with fancy glasses.
“Mojitos!” Eleanor exclaimed, eagerly pouring out the cold drink into the glasses.
“Mojitos? Really?” Zayn scoffed, but took the drink nonetheless.
“Fuck man, you couldn’t have left me a seat? I’ve been making all this food and you just throw it back in my face! Disgraceful” Niall spoke out to the group, a joking edge to his tone.
