Jennie's POV
It's been 3 years since I found out that my dad was sentenced to prison for attempted murder on my mother and a load of other crimes. His reputation and the company he ran, was tarnished because of all the crimes that resurfaced.
I remember the day it all happened like it was yesterday. My mother flew to where Jisoo unnie and I were staying. As you can imagine it was heartwarming and surprising to say the least. Finding out that my mother was still alive and that my own father was to blame for her absence was a shocker.
I had asked her that day after catching up with her, how she was able to find us so quickly. She just smiled at me and gave Jisoo unnie and I a letter each addressed to us.
"They have such a vast range of connections that I didn't even know was possible. Impressive, that young woman." She sounded impressed as she got up off the couch and towards the kitchen probably to rummage through our fridge while mumbling other things that I couldn't hear from where I was.
I looked at Jisoo unnie, briefly, before I opened my letter and Jisoo unnie opened hers. It was from Rosé and I guessed that Jisoo unnie's was from Lisa which she showed me after.

Jennie
I wish we could've met under normal circumstances. Maybe at a mall. At a café perhaps. A random event we both happened to attended.
Maybe then I would've been able to make you fall for me. Maybe then I wouldn't be stuck in this situation where my heart isn't with me. Instead, you've unknowingly taken it with you.You won't be seeing much of me after you've read this letter, unless you purposely try to which is probably not the case. I left you a little something when you get back from your vacation.
I'll be rooting for you, always.- Rosé
_______That was all she wrote. I blushed at the first half of the letter and there was a sort of warm feeling that wrapped around my chest. She liked me back. I was wondering why she wrote so many 'maybes' but, reading the second half of the letter made me realize why.
My heart felt like it ran a marathon when I read the first line. So many thoughts ran through my head. What did she mean by that? Why wouldn't I be seeing her? Why? Why? Why?
Jisoo unnie and my mother kept reassuring me that I'd see her when they noticed that the letter fell from my hand and they were able to read it's contents.
When I came back from the trip, that was when that sentence really slapped me in the face. The surprise she had for me was a small start up company that was under my name and my mothers.
At the time, the company didn't matter to me. All that mattered was finding Rosé, but that was a hard task to do. She was a mafia leader after all. She knew how to avoid me and those few weeks were rough.
I couldn't do anything. I couldn't do anything to find her. I couldn't do anything to ask anyone about her. I was miserable.
I got 'over' the fact that I wouldn't be able to see her even if I tried, after almost a year of doing nothing but eat, sleep, and sit around the house.
Now? I've come to terms with it, but I still have a tiny bit of hope that she'd show up like the others did. Lisa and Seulgi were the first to pop up out of nowhere. It was at a café and they definitely planned the "first meeting" as they call it nowadays.
Jisoo unnie couldn't stop smiling when she saw Lisa. After that, Lisa would be visiting her, frequently, at the company with flowers in hand and lunch. Sometimes Seulgi went with her but usually it was just her coming by.
Then it was Irene and Joy and Irene's girlfriend, Wendy who we randomly met. Me and Jisoo unnie met them at a mall and apparently only Joy and Seulgi planned the meeting. Seulgi didn't go with them since she accompanied someone so the only one who knew about the "meeting" was Joy. Irene unnie and Wendy were clueless and were just dragged there by Joy.
I tried, multiple times, to get some information about where Rosé was but after 3 years those guys still haven't unsealed those lips. They did, thankfully, told me how she was doing.
An occasional update from either of them was all I could get. Yeri showed up months after the five appeared.
Now, I'm involved in my company as the face and model of the group while Jisoo unnie and my mother ran the behind the scenes ordeals.
I'm currently at a small café by the company, just enjoying a fresh cup of iced americano (a/n: healthy drinks my ass you're drinking coffee today. Dammit kprofiles -_-)
I was just looking out the window, thinking about her, again. Someone suddenly taped my shoulder. It was one of the workers there.
"Someone ordered this for you Ms." She placed down a pastry in front of me and bowed.
Before she could scurry off to do her job, I asked her who it was from. She just pointed at the person across from me sitting by the wall. I looked at the person, they were facing to the direction of the register and they had a dog accompanying them.
I looked at the pastry and decided to try it. It was delicious and the thought made me smile. I looked up to check if the person was still there and they were already gone.
I wiped off any crumbs on my face and threw away the carton the pastry came in along with the empty coffee cup. I walked out feeling down.
"I wanted to thank them" I mumbled to myself as I made my way to the company. For some odd reason, when I glanced at them as the worker pointed at them, I felt something. Maybe an ache in my chest?
I shook my head. All I knew was that my heart suddenly felt heavy. I walked into the company greeting everyone I passed by. I used the elevator and got to Jisoo unnie's office. I plopped down on her couch and groaned telling her about my morning.
