Crystal's POV

An alarm blared down the hallway, "I leave for one second." I muttered, picking up my pace to a jog. I found Cisco in the Cortex typing away at the main computer, "What's up?" I asked moving to get suited up. We'd moved it in here with Barry's to save time

"Apartment fire downtown."

"You call Barry?" I asked him, the words coming out muffled through the fabric of my tunic

"Not yet. Thought I'd give you a headstart." he grinned over his shoulder

It was a good idea. In the week we'd been working with Barry, we noticed how he would get increasingly impatient waiting for me to get dressed. All I knew was if he left me behind again there would be hell to pay.

I pulled my hood up dramatically, you know, for the effect, "Call him."

"Sup, Cisco?" Barry's voice came in from the speakers

"Apartment fire, Western and 3rd. Cris is already suited up and ready for pick."

The woosh and gush of wind that usually announced his arrival blew through the room, "Okay." he was already suited up, "You ready?"

"Let's get it!"

"Be careful!" Cisco cautioned

Barry picked me up bridal style, "Yeah, yeah, yeah." I muttered, tucking my head into his chest to avoid whiplash

Downtown Central City

After casually traveling 352 miles per hour and overshooting the building by about six blocks, Barry and I were standing inside the burning apartment complex. "Cisco, what's the ETA on the fire department?" I asked into the com

"Patching you in now."

"This is Ladder 52 responding. We're still at least two minutes out."

"People are going to die in there."

"I know!

"Cisco, there's fire everywhere!" Barry yelled over the crackling

There was nothing on the other end, "Cisco, are you still there?"

"Mom? Mommy?!" came a small voice down the hall; a little girl carrying a stuffed animal

"Well, that's reassuring," I mumbled, scanning my surroundings. Everywhere I turned was engulfed with fire spanning from floor to ceiling.

I turned to Barry, "I'll get everyone out, you try to get these flames down." He was gone before I could say another word

"Who made him the boss?" I pouted, getting to work nonetheless. After a few minutes, sirens wailed outside and Barry was back, "We good?"

"Yep," he grinned, "Let's go." I hopped back into his arms and he ran, stopping in an alley a few blocks down, "Everybody's out." he spoke into the com, "What else you got for us, Cisco?"

"Barry, it's Caitlin."

His eyes widened with panic, "Hey, Caitlin, how's your day?" I had to bite my lip to stop myself from laughing
