Jim and I had ended up in the hospital due to the fight with the goblins, neither of us thinking we needed it but Toby insisted. Miss Lake was of course worried and had us stay for a while under observation. But she knew, she knew something was off with Jim and me. And when we refused to tell her, she stopped talking with us for a while.

Then, there was the whole almost dying, something Jim and me had gotten used to at this point. The battle was long, painful, and overall annoying. We had killed Bular's son...a small victory in the seemingly endless war.

So, now as me and Jim raced to our play, almost late, I laughed. He gave me a confused look as I just shook my head and shrugged, "Let's go, my Romeo." He smiled at me and kissed my cheek. "Alright, my Juliet."

As we walked on stage, our amulets took over and I was in the dress I had worn to audition, Jim in his armor. The crowd gasped in 'awe' as we walked onto the stage.

We spoke our lines beautifully, performing perfectly.

There was a scene where we dance, formally, but Jim and I couldn't help ourselves as he spun me. We danced in a simple, loving way, the crowd smiling at us.

Then in the end when I had to kiss Jim's 'dead' lips, I stood there sadly for a moment. Seeing him, even if it was only acting, this way made my heartache. To see him still, eyes closed as I sat by him with a fake dagger in my hand. My reaction to seeing him like this made people in the crowd tear up, Miss Lake having watery eyes.

I then went off script, causing our teacher to gasp in horror.

"When I saw you, I wasn't sure what to feel. I found you attractive, and you had this goofy demeanor that made me want to talk to you. But I didn't for a while, scared, figures. But, like fate is, we finally got to know each other. And before I could even fully realize, I'd fallen for you. J-My Romeo," I bent down to kiss him, when I stood back up he had a smile on his face. ", I can't live without you, no. Such hell that'd be. So, I'll leave this unforgiving Earth with you," I pretended to stab myself and lay down next to him. ", And spend eternity with my love."

I then 'died' and the crowd gave us standing applause, Jim and I standing up and bowing, hand in hand.

"That wasn't in the script," Jim whispered to me as we bowed again, a teasing tone leaving his lips. I smiled at him and let out a small nervous laugh. "Got carried away."

Jim leaned in and kissed me on the cheek. "We finally have at least a night with no-nonsense going on." He said relieved. "Thank God." I smile, forcing myself not to kiss him as multiple people gave us flowers and kind compliments.

Jim and I said goodnight to Miss Lake, a tension still between us, and we walked up to his room warn out.

As I was about to plop down on his bed when Jim stopped me, taking my hand. "Come here." He hugged me in a way that let his head snuggle into my chest, him holding onto me like I was life.

I smiled and pet his hair, running my fingers between his dark hair.

I then walked us to his bed and laid down, him still resting on my chest as I continued to play with his hair.

"I lo-" I heard him mumble but he cut himself off and just hugged me even tighter.

"Hmm?" I looked down at him but he didn't answer as he sat upon his elbows, holding my face with a small smile.

He then peppered my face with kisses, fast at first in a playful manner but then gradually getting slower as he connected his lips with mine.

I sat up slightly as he held me to him, deepening the kiss as I wrapped my legs around him.

I pulled him closer by grabbing his shirt, him letting out a small noise of surprise as I pressed him closer and closer.

Then the Walkie-talkie went off again.

I groaned in annoyance as we heard Toby's staticky giggles.

"I swear." Jim got up and glared through his window at Toby. "I give up." I put my hands up in surrender. "Jim, apparently we can never kiss." Jim just sighed and pulled me to him once again. "There's nothing in this world that can keep me away from you, nothing."  My face grew warm, him picking me up and spinning me around.

As I laughed, our amulets shimmered. We looked down at them uneasy and waited to see what would happen.

Nothing.

They just lit up and stayed dark afterward.

"Are they ever gonna make sense?" I sighed.

"Maybe..."
