Something had happened to Jim. Something huge. And I didn't know what.

Jim, the Jim who always told me everything, even as silly as what he just had to eat that day, wouldn't tell me why he was acting -- what was the word -- clingy?

Clingy sounded mean, it definitely wasn't that. But, he was paranoid. I would reach for something and he'd immediately reach for it, kissing me quickly before going back to what he was doing. He even went as far as not letting me cook with him because I'd 'cut myself.' Something crazy was going on...and Tobey being so absent these days, I struggled on my own to figure it out.

"Jim?" I yawned with closed tired eyes, just waking up. I attempted to sit up but a warm weight held me down.

"Just a few more minutes?" Jim was hugging me like a Koala, burying his head into my chest.

I yawned again as I lazily giggled. "Of course." I stroked his hair as the weight of his head became heavier as he relaxed.

His arms wrapped around me in a more secure manner as he hummed with joy as I ran my fingers through his hair slowly. I shuffled down a bit more to kiss his forehead, my legs resting around his waist.

"You tired?" I pondered, his cuddling frenzy lasting longer than usual.

"Eh." He let the sound float in the air as he lifted his face up, kissing me softly. "I'm just happy..."

Heat rose to my face, my heartwarming as I kissed back. "Me too." I knew I shouldn't have pushed him, asked him what was wrong because every time I did he would ignore it and move on but...

"Everything all right?" I urged, resting my hand on the back of his head, tilting my head.

He tensed, pulling back with a lost look in his eyes. "I'm okay...now. Just -- just stay here with me? Please?" I pulled him closer as my brows showed my worriedness.

"Wha -- Jim, why would I leave? I'm here, always."

His breathing slowed back down, him reconnecting our lips.

There had been many moments in Jim and I's relationship where our touch became heated, our kisses hungry. But, as he held onto me gently, carefully manoeuvering his way deeper against my lips...this wasn't just lust...this was fond...tender...overflowing with love...

"Y-your saying he got out! I knew it..." I growled as Blinky told Jim and me the horrible news, Gunmar, Tobey beating us to it as he spent more and more time with Arrrrgggghhh than usual.

"It's going to be all right, (Y/n). We knew this was going to happen, this is just sooner than later. We got it." Jim's words helped me breathe as my legs started to shake from my nerves.

"You're right, yeah." I looked over to Tobey and smiled. "We just need to get ourselves a game plan. Tobes? That's your cue." I failed to include Tobey in our discussion as he nodded and made a beeline to a bookshelf.

My smile dropped as I sat back into my chair, Jim resting his hand on my shoulders. "Well, let's get to brainstorming."

Before we could even open up a book, Queen Usurna made things even more difficult than they already were, something she seemed to do too often.

"Me? Trial?" I felt lightheaded as two giant trolls put me in handcuffs, Jim protesting but was pushed up against a wall before he could help.

"Why!? What'd she do?!" Tobey, the most I'd heard him say in ages, looked furious as I was dragged to a cage.
