Talking to spirits. It's a weird thing. You think about the lives they used to have, the people they must miss...their lost loved ones. It was just a lot to wrap one's head around. Especially for two high schoolers who have to save the world, protect a secret civilization no other human knows of (Other than Toby), and pass our classes while getting all of our homework done on time...while trying not to die you know.
But hey, this was on our agenda, so...yay!
"Hmm..." Kanjigar (The courageous) thought in silence, his quietness making Jim and me nervous.
"I am unsure how to approach this, any of your problems that come because...all of the previous Trollhunters have done it alone. We've never had help. This is all foreign to me." He stared at me and had a curious look in his eye.
He then went on, explaining how Jim and I needed to find something called the Triumbric Stone. It apparently going to make us stronger, along with two other stones, to defeat Gunmar. Them being his only weakness.
"I think, Jim," I turned to him with raised brows. ", That you and Toby should take this one. On your own."
Jim shook his head. "Why?"
I glanced at Kanjigar and looked back at Jim with a smile. "He's your best friend, Jim. And lately, you two haven't been able to spend time with each other due to your duties but Toby can defend himself, I think, so he would help you while you have time to catch up. It'll be good for you. I'll stay here and speak to Kanjigar, try and find more ways to help us take down Gunmar."
Jim looked uneasy, quiet for a second but gave me a nod.
He walked up and kissed me on the forehead, ruffling my hair. "Stay safe."
I nodded with a smile. "I'm the one that should be saying that. Try not to get hurt, okay?"
He just smiled back and walked out of the phantom world, my heart sinking as he disappeared.
"I have never seen such magic before." Kanjigar's voice made me jump, me forgetting he was there.
"Uh-What do you mean?" I straightened my jacket as Kanjigar's spirit floated closer to me.
As I neared closer to her, I felt overwhelming grief. I had started to feel it when she was standing next to Trollhunter Jim, but...
She awkwardly ran a hand through her hair, waiting for my response. But I couldn't speak. No. Because at this moment, I had finally met my other half. Not her, per se. But her aura. The magic she carried. Everything I was supposed to experience with my Destined Partner, but I was too blind, filled with pride...
Her soft kind features, though odd to me, were still mesmerizing. I could hear my fellow Trollhunters, all grieving with me. We all felt pain. The pain of losing a loved one we had never gotten to know. And all of it was our fault. There was no denying it.
"Did I do something wrong?" Her voice was calming, a lot softer than most of the warriors I had met.
On the contrary, she had done nothing wrong. But instead, in the most absolute way, showed me this special feeling every Trollhunter had missed.
"Jim is lucky..." She gave me a quizzical look, just nodding.
"You have regrets, huh?"
I stared at her quietly as I searched for an answer. "Some that I think could've changed my life, in a great manner, yes."
