It was black. Quite, it was deadly quiet. Everything was still until her laughter shook me awake.
"Trollhunter, Trollhunter. The test begins, so, rise."
I scrambled to my feet, falling back with a thud as my head spun.
"Oh, how sad. Your Destined Partner had no problem being in my realm of magic and you can't even stand."
(Y/n) had been here? Realm of magic? Why was I struggling so much?
"Now, the test. I said it was to see if you truly loved the Destined Partner, without your sacred bind!"
And then, it was black once more.
╔ ╗Jim's P.O.V ╚ ╝ To Not Be a Trollhunter
I woke up to my alarm, hopping out of bed with a smile, sprinting downstairs. I hummed happily as I pushed my hair back, starting on Tobey and I's lunch. I glanced at the note on the fridge my mom had left, her working a late night and having to take a morning shift.
Why...?
I sighed but continued to stuff the food in a bag, rushing out to my bike to see Tobey waiting for me.
Man, this was the life.
"Jimbo! Ready to go?" I nodded at Tobey, looking back at my house, something pausing me for a moment.
"You forget to lock the door or something?" Tobey leaned against the rail of his bike as he watched me struggle to remember something.
"Uh -- no, I didn't forget anything. Let's go." We peddled down how we usually went, our normal road, nothing unusual...like always.
"I'm super nervous about that test today in history." Tobey groaned, his worrying ridiculous on the account of him being one of the best students in the class.
"You're going to be fine, Tobes. And anyway, didn't you study with --" I paused, my peddling slowing down as we parked in front of the school. "You studied with me! That's right, yeah. So, we got this in the bag."
Then, entering the class, someone shuffled by me, "Excuse me." I looked over my shoulder to see a girl. I think her name was (Y/n)? She had only just moved to town if I wasn't mistaken.
"You're all good." I smiled as she took a seat by Tobey and me.
"I heard there was a test today. Is that true?!" She was a really pretty girl...I mean I was totally side-tracking but it was hard to miss. She has a very intense aura about her -- in a "She could kill you any second" kind of way. Which is super weird...but even with her sweet smile, she looked almost lethal?
"Don't worry about it. Honestly, Mr. Strickler makes them sound super important but they're always simple." I assured her, her nodding as she looked at the board in front of her.
The test went well, Tobey and I went home, I cooked dinner for my mom, homework, then bed.
All normal...
The next morning, I sat in my bed with a tense mind, my alarm continuing to ring as I failed to reach for it. There was something I had to do, right? No...I had helped mom out as best as I could and I was even caught up with school.
I slammed my hand on the alarm, trudging to my window. Why did I feel -- so displeased?
I stared at the town, its quiet serenity making me smile for a split second, then, frown. I have always lived alone, with my mom...so...so why do I want to greet someone else good morning. No -- not want -- need. I needed to greet someone else.
