The Cullens weren't often taken off guard. With Alice and Edward, it was rare something happened around them that they wouldn't already know about. But not even the seer and mind reader could've prepared the family for her.
Alice had been so focused on Jasper's future, wanting to see when their diet will become easier for her beloved, that she completely missed talk of a new girl in town. She completely missed that this new girl, though human, would steal the hearts of all the Cullen's, and refuse to give them back.
Alice didn't see that, in the near future, she would fall in love for the second time in her life. But when she finally relaxed, allowing herself to take a break from Jasper's future, she was caught off guard by what she saw.
"I'm Persephone." The girl's sweet voice rang through Alice's head, and she could see herself standing in front of a beautiful human in what seemed to be a classroom.
"The Goddess of Spring." Alice replied, smiling softly. The girl smiled mischievously.
"And Queen of the Underworld," She winked playfully and Alice swore that if she were alive, her breath would've caught in her throat.
Another vision.
Persephone kissing Jasper, holding him tightly to her as if she were afraid he would leave again. She pulls away and Jasper gently pries her hands off him, soothing her hair back and away from her face. Alice watches as her chest fills with warmth. I love them both, she thinks to herself.
Another.
Persephone and Jasper dancing in a field at night. The stars are twinkling and an old radio sits next to Alice, playing soft music. After a while of him twirling her around, Persephone pulls away and runs to Alice, pulling the vampire up off the ground.
"Your turn." Her cheeks are flushed with happiness and her eyes seem to hold more stars than the sky. She is so beautiful that Alice cannot help but kiss her as they dance, feeling Jasper's eyes fondly watching them move across the space.
Alice is caught off guard by the surge of emotions that come from these visions, and pause from where she was putting away her new clothes. Suddenly, she remembers Edward is back from avoiding Bella.
Edward, who had been playing piano for Esme, suddenly presses the wrong key. Instantly, all the Cullens in the living room were facing him. His face broke out into a wide, bright smile as Alice ran down the stairs.
"Don't!" Edward laughed at his sister, who was now standing behind the piano and glaring at him. Her small frame did nothing to scare him, and his entire family were now eagerly waiting for one of them to explain.
Don't tell them! She yelled to Edward in her head, trying to deter her brother from teasing.
"Oh God, Alice. Really? Rosalie is going to hate you." This caught the blonde vampire's attention.
"What did you see, Alice?" Rosalie spoke from her place beside her husband. Alice turned to Jasper with a large smile.
"A human. She'll be at school soon." She decided to save the rest for later, not wanting to stress Jasper out. She could clearly see his love for Persephone in her visions, but wanted him to discover those feelings for himself. She, of course, already knew how she would feel for the girl. Edward smirked but kept quiet, respecting his sister's wishes.
"I'm guessing you're going to be friends with her?" Rosalie asked, a bit annoyed at the thought of her family risking the life of a human. Already they had Edward and Bella to worry about, they didn't need yet another human getting involved.
"Stop it, Rose." Edward mumbled, glaring at her. Alice just smiled and nodded, ignoring the anger in her adopted sister's voice.
"We're going to be very good friends."
