"Have you both lost your minds?" Rosalie growls at the couple as they walk through the door from spending hours, alone, with a human.
"Rosalie, calm down." Carlisle calls, glancing at Alice and Jasper. He, too, was worried.
"Babe, sit down. Let them explain, I'm sure they have a good reason." Emmett gives Jasper and Alice a look, as if to say 'please have a good reason for doing that, dumbasses.'
"We had a project." Alice announces smoothly. "High schools have projects sometimes. She's our partner." She looks around for Edward and catches his eye from across the room.
He smiles, knowing shes withholding the fact that she made them partners from the rest of the family.
"Her blood has no affect on us, Carlisle." She says. "Not even Jaz." Carlisle raises his brows in shock.
"Really? How fascinating. Are you sure?" Alice nods.
"I hugged her." Rosalie gasps in shock and anger. "There was nothing. Of course, I smelt her blood, but I didn't want to harm her. I don't know what it is."
"You hugged her?!" Rosalie rages, angry at how careless her sister was acting. Hugging a human is dangerous – being so close to the human, she could've lost control and bitten her. Edward's behaviour was making Alice's a thousand times worse than what it truly was in Rosalie's mind, and she stormed from the living room. She had been anxious for the weeks since Edward announced he met his blood singer, and now Alice and Jasper were getting recklessly close to yet another human.
"Give her some time." Emmett said, staring sadly after his wife. "She's been anxious lately. You know how she feels about getting humans involved in our world." He followed his wife out to the garage, allowing Carlisle to speak with Alice and Jasper. Edward silently made his way to his bedroom, also deciding to give the three privacy.
"Alice, Jasper, why don't you both have a seat and explain the situation to me?" Carlisle suggests softly, gesturing to their couch. Alice skips over and sits down, still feeling happy from being around Persephone for so long.
"Carlisle," Alice begins, glancing at Jasper anxiously. He grabs her hand and sends comforting waves to her with his gift, wanting to help comfort her. "I can't say what I saw. You just have to trust me, please." She practically begs him, feeling her guilt at not telling him be soothed away by Jasper.
"Okay, Alice. I trust you." Carlisle says calmly, patting her knee. "Don't worry. I'm here for you if you need anything, of course. Esme and I both are." He stands and, with a kiss to Alice's head, walks back to his office to give the couple a moment alone. Jasper leans backwards onto the couch and pulls Alice with him so that she is resting on his chest.
"We love her. In the vision, we love her." Alice nods quietly, allowing her beloved to say what he needs to. "Why didn't you tell me?"
"I wanted your feelings to develop naturally, and I didn't want to stress you out." She glances up at him. "You don't hurt her, Jaz. You love her, so you won't hurt her." Jasper nods and swallows tightly, feeling anxiety at the idea of harming Persephone.
"I would never willingly hurt her." He says, pulling Alice closer to him. "Never."
"I know, Jaz." For the rest of the night Alice explains in great detail the visions she saw, as both vampires wait impatiently to see the human the next day.
