Beomgyu was not having the best time of his life. He clutched his chest as he went through the now daily morning routine of his; coughing out blood. He slumped against the bathroom door and sighed. Was everything really worth it? He often had that thought. But he tried to convince himself that it was. He would make it worth it. Pain was something he could get used to. Loss was something he couldn't get used to. That was what he had told himself everyday.

He left his bathroom after a few minutes of resting and changed his clothes. He took off his shirt and looked at the tattoo on his chest in the mirror. Two days were taken off. He put on a simple white shirt and a navy blue knitted vest over. He wore a pair of blue jeans and left his room.

"Morning" Beomgyu greeted Taehyun on the way down the staircase when he spotted the younger walking towards the kitchen.

"Morning" Taehyun looked up from his phone at Beomgyu. "You look... Tired."

Beomgyu hummed in response and followed Taehyun into the kitchen. Taehyun placed his phone on the counter without turning it off and looked at Beomgyu from head to toe.

"Are you going somewhere today?"

Beomgyu wasn't paying attention to him. He was staring at Taehyun's phone screen which showed a paused video of one of Beomgyu's high school band performance. "You've been watching my high school band stages?"

Taehyun quickly pulled his phone away and turned off the screen. "I was just curious." He replied. Truth to be told, Taehyun had spent the whole morning watching his videos. He was deeply intrigued by the performer side of Beomgyu. He could sense how much Beomgyu enjoyed being on the stage. He recalled the performance he did the that day. Taehyun could see the exhilaration in his eyes. They shone so brightly, just like how his eyes once burned with passion when he spoke about his ambition when they were kids. He glanced at the older. There were so many questions he wanted to ask him but he knew he could never get a proper answer from him. Beomgyu had never given him a direct answer, like how he never told him why he used to crave for freedom so much. This bothered Taehyun a lot. He wanted answers, not another rhetorical question thrown at him, not statements that would make him even more curious, not sentences to shut the topic down.

"I'm going to the hospital to volunteer" Beomgyu said as he opened the fridge and took out a carton of milk. "Do you want to join?" He offered as he poured some milk into his mug.

"Oh? Sure" Taehyun pulled out a pancake mix from one of the cupboard. "Why do you hide everything? Was volunteering something that needed to be hidden as well? You never told us anything you do."

"I didn't technically hide it. No one asked, that's all." Beomgyu drank the milk from his mug.

Taehyun sighed. Beomgyu really frustrated him sometimes. He could never find a way to argue back because what he said was always true. However, it felt disturbing to Taehyun, just like the time when Beomgyu got punched and hit by the unidentified man on the streets. "Pancakes for breakfast, is that fine?"

Beomgyu nodded. Honestly Taehyun didn't need to ask him. He would eat anything Taehyun made. Even if he purposely added tomatoes or seafood, he would eat them all. That was how much he loved him. He was willing to do anything for Taehyun, except for answering his dangerous questions.
