"It's been a long time since we sat down and had a good meal together" Mrs Choi said and smiled to the younger men.

Beomgyu was sitting comfortably in his seat with an unreadable expression on his face as stirred his spoon into his bowl of soup. Both the Kangs and Chois were currently dining in a restaurant Beomgyu, himself, had chosen. Scooping up some of soup, he brought the spoon to his mouth and drank it. When he heard complete silence, he finally decided to look up. All of them were staring at him.

"What?" Beomgyu put down his spoon and questioned.

"I asked you a question, were you not paying attention?" His father sighed.

"I wasn't" Beomgyu admitted honestly. "Sorry."

"Is there a specific reason why you wanted all of us to gather for lunch?"

Beomgyu looked at his parents and shrugged. "Not really. I just thought it'd be nice to eat together once in a while. You know, family bonding."

Taehyun placed his hand on Beomgyu's forearm, feeling sorry for the older. Beomgyu had to keep bugging his parents in order for them to make time for this. Beomgyu was still desperate for his parents' love after all.

"Right" Mrs Choi smiled at that. "I'm sorry for not being able to visit both of you so often."

Beomgyu silently snorted at that. It was already too late to apologise and make amends. He picked up his spoon again and consumed his soup quietly.

"We will make sure to be available for Christmas" His mother added.

Beomgyu clenched the spoon in his hand. Maybe he shouldn't have invited his parents. This was just plain torturous for him. Trying to contain his anger and resentment, the raven haired took in a deep breath before drinking his soup again.

"Oh Christmas! Please do come over to our house to celebrate" Mrs Kang exclaimed joyfully. "Taehyun said that Beomgyu really liked it last year, isn't that right?"

Taehyun glanced at the older before nodding his head. "Yes, hyung li-"

"I enjoyed it" Beomgyu interrupted and smiled up to the Kangs. "I really like your homecooked meals. It felt like real Christmas; warm and cozy. I wish to celebrate Christmas at your house again this year."

The Kang parents were elated hearing that from the younger man and started to plan the activities they should do for their Christmas party eagerly. Taehyun felt a lump forming in his throat as tears brimmed his eyes. He gazed down at his own bowl of soup and drank it, distracting himself.

Beomgyu tried to make himself as comfortable as possible and forget his discontentment towards his parents. He didn't want their last family meal together to be so solemn and heavy. He would crack jokes occasionally and made their parents laugh or smile with amusement. Seeing how Beomgyu had set himself free from all the negative emotions and memories, Taehyun felt slightly better about it but his chest still felt tight with concern and despondence.

The older glanced at his gloomy lover and placed his hand on his lap before squeezing Taehyun's thigh softly. Taehyun let out a small yelp from the unexpected action and looked over to Beomgyu, who had a subtle smirk on his face.

"Tae, are you okay?" Taehyun's mother asked, worried.

"Yeah... yeah!" Taehyun showed her a smile as he smacked Beomgyu's hand away. He shot the taller a glare when no one was watching, which only caused Beomgyu's smirk to grow wider.
