It's the day the exam results are going to be announced. Donghyuck is feeling extra anxious around these times. This time was a little bit different though. This time the school would choose the student body president by score since the last student body president suddenly transferred schools.
The fear of failure was so big that his nightmares were even more intense. Donghyuck's sleep schedule is beyond messed up.
"Mark, I'm so nervous", he says as they drive to school. Mark picked him up that morning. "Don't be, I already told you: you did your absolute best. You're so hardworking, it doesn't matter if you fail or not because I am proud that you did your best.".
He smiles, Mark is so sweet. He feels as comfortable as ever.
But what's so funny to Donghyuck is that Mark would've never said any of these things two years ago. How could he? Donghyuck barely ever made it to class back then. The only one who kept him from failing completely was Jaemin. He looks down at the thought of his Ex, he tries his absolute best to avoid him.
They finally get to school. Mark holds Donghyuck's hand all the way to the school's results board. "Remember Donghyuck: any grade is fine when you did your best.", Mark assures him, planting a kiss on the boy's head.
They hear someone clear their throat behind them.
It's Jaemin.
Of course, who else could it be?
He rolls his eyes at them. The audacity, Donghyuck thinks. Donghyuck quickly turns to Mark again. Now he's even more anxious.
Jaemin proceeds to step to the results paper that's pinned to the board. He takes a few notes and turns back again, this time facing Donghyuck. He smirks and just walks away.
Now, what the hell?, Donghyuck asks himself. What is that about?
Realization hits and he literally runs to the board.
He is looking through all of the names.
1. Lee Dongyhuck: 100.
He sighs in relief. He feels so happy, he might start crying out of relief from all the anxiety.
But he sees another first place on the paper. Now, how is that possible?
1. Na Jaemin: 100.
Donghyuck laughs bitterly. Oh, how could he ever forget that Jaemin was ever so smart and intelligent? The way he smirked at Donghyuck earlier, that must've been why.
"Is everything fine?", Mark asks after Donghyuck starred at the names for quite a while now.
He gulps.
"Yes, Hyung. I got first place.", he smiles sadly.
"Cheer up, Hyuckie! Let me see my results", Mark looks through them and sees he has made it to 8th place. Not bad, he thought. He looks at the top of the lists and sees two first places.
One is Donghyuck, the other is Jaemin. "Oh.", he says and gulps too.
He takes Donghyuck's hand and says: "You did so well, I'm proud of you!"
Donghyuck just looks in another direction and sighs.
"Thank you, Hyung."

They have physics again. Jeno and Donghyuck are already sitting at their table meanwhile the room starts to fill with more and more students.
"Are you okay?", Jeno asks Donghyuck.
"I don't know Jeno, you saw the result board right?".
"I did, I was so shocked seeing his name under yours. I'm kind of afraid of what's going to happen next. The student body president needs to be elected. But you're the one with a perfect resumè.", Jeno tries reassuring him.
The role of the student body president would look so good on his college application and resumè. He would do anything for it. When news got around that a new student body president would be elected, he was so thrilled. He wants this role more than anything.
"We'll see, I'm kind of anxious about it.", he bites his lip.
Jaemin comes into the room and passes Donghyuck's seat.
Donghyuck tenses up, the boy is sitting right behind him and Jeno. He hates it so much, he wants to avoid Physics just because of their seating constellation.
"Do you want to get lunch with Renjun and me later?", Jeno asks to ease Donghyuck, trying to take his mind off of the stressful situation his best friend is in.
Donghyuck is more than grateful to have Jeno by his side.
"Of course, I missed you guys so much."

By lunch, he feels a lot better. He's having fun with Jeno and Renjun, they didn't spend time together for quite a while now since Mark got into his life again.
"There will be a party this weekend Hyuckie, you should come!", Renjun says happily.
"No, I won't go to a party with you guys ever again. Last time all you did was shove your tongues- hey!". Jeno hit him playfully.
"Just say you're jealous and go. Besides, Mark would be more than glad to have a taste of you.", Jeno teases him and Donghyuck turns bright red.
Little does Jeno know that they both already made out years prior, before he even met Jaemin. They were just messing around with each other, they were both lonely and drunk and decided to kick it off at Mark's party. They weren't even awkward after the whole ordeal, instead, they became best friends.
"Don't say that!", he says, panicking.
Renjun and Jeno just laugh but their laugh stills right away. They both look behind Donghyuck with a straight face.
What's going on?, Donghyuck asks himself and turns around to see Jaemin. His heart drops.
"I'm here to tell you that the principal wants to see us both, now", Jaemin says in a cold tone, his eyes are dark. Donghyuck gulps. What did the principal possibly want from both of them?
He gets up from the table. "I'll see you guys around", he says and follows Jaemin.
His heart is beating so loud, he feels like he is about to have an anxiety attack.
He walks behind Jaemin, not wanting to get any closer because he fears he might start to cry.
He is being confronted with his biggest fears, at the same time.
"Is something wrong?", Jaemin asks, but so much more caring.
"N-no, just walk", he mumbles, not looking Jaemin in the face.
They both arrive at the principal's office.
