Andrew's POV
"Another round on me," Noah yells through the lousy bar, placing two beers on the table.
"How is your father?" A genuine question from him, but the subject urges me to take a long drink of my beer.
"Out of the hospital." I clean the beer from my lips.
"That's good."
"For him, yeah." And for him only. He's driving me crazy. I was naive believing in his retirement. That he wouldn't interfere in my job anymore. That I would be the one making important decisions.
"And your sister?" I raise a brow, facing him. He got too close to Diana for my liking.
"She's good. Enjoying Germany."
She should be studying in the US as I did. That was the plan, but she didn't want to get too far from our father right now. And I didn't want her here, close to him.
She's too naive and continuously falls for his tricks. Her studies should be the priority.
He can focus his entire energy on me.
"She's worried about you."
"Are you talking to her?"
"No. I mean before she left. She was worried about you not doing the check-up exams."
I sigh, taking a sip from my beer. She and my grandmother drove me insane begging for it. Now Noah joined the club.
"I won't do it," I inform him.
"Why not?"
"Because I don't want to." Is not the disease that scares me. I wouldn't stand knowing I have the same problem my grandfather and my father had.
I hate I look like them. I despise when people say I'm my father's copy. That I'm exactly like him.
I can deal with the fact we look alike physically, but I can't accept we could have the same heart, the same health problem, the same fate.
"That chick has been checking you out since you arrive." Noah nudges me with his elbow, enticing me to look, but I keep my gaze on my drink.
"Yeah." I twirl my beer. Pretending it to be a scotch. I need a stronger drink, something to knock me out. Yeah, I should continue with the beer.
"She's hot man. Big boobs, blond..."
I turn to the door, noticing the girl. The wrong type of blond though.
She's not shy or subtle. She smiles at me and rearranges her top in a way to show me her assets. And then she walks our way.
"Britany." She raises her hand to shake mine.
"Andrew and this is Noah." She shakes his hand as well and he gestures for her to take a sit.
She's not from here, but I couldn't care less where she comes from.
Noah keeps talking to her and she tries to include me in the conversation. The girl should know that when I guy gives his attention to an already hot beer instead of her, he's not interested.
"Drew." She places her hand on my arm and I freeze.
I look her in the eyes for a moment and she smiles brighter.
"Let's dance." She stands up. My gaze shift between her face and her hand on my bicep. She squeezes it, waiting for my response.
"It's Andrew, and I don't dance." I glare at her.
