After jumps and hugs and congratulations, Char and Liam dismissed me to go back to sleep.
I go back to my apartment, except my head is elsewhere. I discern it still night through my window. It is barely five in the morning.
I'm so happy and relieved and excited. It's impossible to go back to sleep.
The university I got accepted it's not the best one, but it's not bad either. It is close to Paris though it is not inside the city, as I wish.
I list the documents for the inscription and the visa. Programming a meeting for the visa in two weeks. Granting me time in case I get accepted to another college. Like my favorite one that I still have to receive the response. I hope I could get it considering I applied to more than one master there.
The essential thing is I got it. I will go to France and the rest are small details.
I go to the office earlier, unable to sleep again. I set a cheerful French playlist on my way to work. Getting in the spirit of it.
Singing and welcoming my soon-to-be life.
The weather is beautiful. The bus is empty. And I can enjoy the sun rising on my way, breathing the nice weather.
I don't remember the last time I was this happy. As can't-stop-smiling happy. The muscles in my cheeks have their own will and they insist on lifting the corner of my lips.
I don't mind the stares I receive with my abnormal grinning. I'm too thrilled to care. I feel great, I'm even dressed up today to celebrate.
I assume I would be the first person in the office. It's early and I'm full of energy to attack the files Jeremy sent me.
My singing halts once the elevator door opens. The air in here is heavy and I breathe it before leaving the elevator.
Entering the office I find almost everyone there. People are running around with documents in their hands. Others, concentrated on their desks typing on their computer.
Everyone is busy. No one notices me. The atmosphere here couldn't be colder. And I'm afraid I'm an intruder with my happiness.
"Good morning", I greet Jeremy with a wide smile receiving only a small nod in return.
"Hi", he tells me standing up. "You arrive just in time for an important meeting".
"I'm one of the speakers. You can take notes and understand how the validation works".
Jeremy carries his computer and several files in his hands. I offer to help him without a response. He's so tense I don't insist on it, following him in silence to the meeting room.
"What's she doing here?" Andrew's firm voice stops Jeremy and me from entering the room.
"She will attend the meeting with me", Jeremy responds.
"No, she can't", Andrew states. He's serious and I glare at him.
The playful Andrew I met yesterday is gone. He hasn't glanced my way. He speaks to Jeremy as I'm no one. As if I'm not even there.
"Staff only, Jeremy", he coldly informs us entering the room.
He played with me yesterday, pretending he cared and now he treats me like a bug. The insignificant intern.
"I'm sorry Kelsey, I thought-" Jeremy starts. He's uncomfortable, with his pity speech.
"Don't worry. Good meeting", I tell him, and then I leave for my office. Being alone while my blood boils with anger. The way Andrew treated me was so...Ugh.
