"Are you ready to par-tay, Allie?" Cole yelled, whilst dancing around my room.

Currently, You Me At Six's song, Fresh Start Fever, was blaring through the speaker on my radio.

Cole pranced around the room, keeping in time with the beat of the song.

"Well I would be, if you would stop trying to force me to dance when I'm attempting to get ready!" I screamed over the music.

His playful chuckle was muffled down by the loudness of the song.

"Aww, come on! I'm just trying to liven up the mood a little." He smiled, finally turning down the music.

"So what time did Lia say for us to be at her house?" I asked, brushing on mascara to my long lashes.

"Well, she wanted us to help her set up the house for the party. So, I guess we should leave in around... Half an hour?" He shrugged, leaning against my closet.

"Sure." I smiled, beginning to curl my hair.

I didn't really want to have to make an effort to go to this party. But since Lia was nice enough to have invited me, it's only fair that I go to some trouble to look presentable.

"So, is Lia a werewolf too?" I asked, raising my eyebrows.

"Yeah. Her brother is the beta of the pack they currently belong to." He explained. "So, it only made sense that they moved here as well, when their pack was relocated."

"Oh, okay. But can I just ask, what's a beta?" I asked, scrunching my eyebrows together in confusion.

"Oh my, you have so much to learn." He sighed, rubbing his forehead in frustration.

"Cole, I'm new to all of this, okay? So stop treating me like an idiot, and actually show me a little bit of respect!" I screamed, feeling annoyed.

I hadn't meant to lash out the way I did at Cole, but it's as if no one can fully come to terms with the situation at hand. As if this is all some kind of joke.

As if I was some kind of joke.

I had been forced from my home and real family, being at a young age. I wasn't given a choice, nor was I told about my real life once I came of age, that I would understand the whole situation. It's as if I were a puppet on tangled strings, being thrown around until I was freed.

"I-I'm sorry Allie, really I am." Cole spoke in defeat.

"No Cole, I'm sorry." I sighed. "None of this is your fault, yet you always seem to be on the receiving end of all the terrible things that happen in my life."

Standing up straight, he walked over to where I sat behind the mirror, which was perched on my cream coloured dresser.

His large, muscular arms wrapped around me from behind. His warmth radiated off him in relaxing waves, as he brought me further into his embrace.

"That's my duty as your friend. To be there for you, and comfort you when you're upset." He whispered softly, rocking us back and forth.

"But it doesn't excuse the way I have poorly treated you in the past." I explained, holding onto his arms. "Without you and your support, only God knows where I would be by now."

Looking at myself in the mirror, I noticed stray tears running down my face. Cole's eyes were shut tightly, as if he was deep in thought.

"Well I for one, wouldn't change anything. I am glad I was there to help you." He muttered, hugging me closer. "Although, if I could go back in time, I would have fought for you more than I did."
