"Miss.Fern, please can you tell me what caused you to react the way you did?" Of course, the officer stood before me was talking about me smashing up Larry's car.
Good times, good times my friends.
I shrugged in reply and went back to mindlessly fidgeting with my fingernails. My mother cleared her throat from across the table, in order to grab my attention.
"Miss.Fern if you don't wish to comment on the matter, we will be forced to bring you down to the station for further questioning. If you still remain to keep quiet, we will have to keep you in temporary confinement or house arrest. That will be your choice." I stared up at the towering man before me, his eyes glinting in the sun that was peeping through the window.
I sat up in my chair and let out a frustrated sigh. This was all my mother's fault. Why couldn't she just concentrate on her remaining family rather than creating more problems for herself.
"Allie, the officer is asking you a question. Don't be so rude by ignoring him." My mother rambled, whilst sending a not-so-discreet wink his way.
Seriously? I'm right here!
My growing urge to laugh in her face was unbearable, but I would probably just freak the poor officer out more.
"I bet you would love to see me behind bars, wouldn't you?" The shocked expression on my mother's face just made me relax further back into the uncomfortable chair I was sat in.
"How dare you! You know that it would pain me to see you in a situation like that." She mumbled. Although her face mimicked concern, her voice betrayed her completely.
"Now ladies, there is no mention of jail here. We are simply advising you Allie, that it would be of benefit to you if you would give us an explanation for your actions." The officer stated.
I stared out the window from my seat, to see Cole leaning against his truck also being hassled by a police officer. It made me angry how Larry was continuously giving Cole death glares from the other side of the yard.
"Miss Fern?" I snapped my head back up towards the officer, giving me a worried look. I shook my head slightly, whilst getting up and grabbing a glass from the cupboard.
"I'm sorry, I just..." I stumbled.
"You just what? Allie, if you're not telling me some-"
"None of this is Cole's nor my fault, its all her wrong doing." I screamed pointing towards my mother. To say that my mother was taken back by my words would be an understatement.
"I beg your pardon?" My mother rose from her seat, slowly trailing towards me. The police officer stood in between us both, trying to block my mother's anger towards me.
I turned back towards the sink and filled my glass with water. When I turned back around, I wish I hadn't. My mother stood only a few feet away from me, shaking with rage. The officer stood at a safe distance away from the scene, but prepared himself for the unexpected.
"I said that it's all you're fault. If it weren't for your stupid decision to bring that potato-head back here, none of this would have happened." I laughed.
My mother let out a gasp before knocking the glass out of my hand, pushing me over in the process. I fell to the ground seconds after the glass shattered on the kitchen tiles, meaning the small shards had the perfect opportunity to embed themselves into both of my exposed hands.
"Ah!" I cried. The officer quickly shouted something into his radio and rushed over to my side.
I glanced up at my mother through watery eyes and screamed at her with anger. She stumbled back into another officer, who simply pulled her away from the room. More strangers in familiar uniforms ran over to me and my blood cover hands.
"Christ! Get her to the car now, we will take her straight to the hospital." A tall man shouted from the door. I can only assume he was the leading sergeant by the tone in his voice.
The officer who was previously interviewing me, grabbed me by my waist and pulled me to my feet. He grasped both of my wrists softly, raising them upwards. I assume it was to cause as little blood loss as possible.
I followed the officer as he carefully pulled me towards the yard. As soon as I was brought out of the doorway, my mother scrambled over to me whilst fighting the restraint of the officers holding her back. Her cheeks were flooded with tears.
Cole eyed my bloody hands, then back to my puffy red eyes. He let out a frustrated groan whilst jogging over to me.
"Allie, what did that witch do?" He shouted. Two men came from behind Cole and dragged him backwards, against his own will.
I was lead to a police car that was parked in the middle of the yard, which I was then abruptly stuffed into.
As soon as my butt hit the leather interior, the car sped off down the road. I was in a great deal of pain still, but ignored the discomfort as I looked through the back window. Cole was sprinting towards the car, trying to catch up.
The car's speed quickened once the driver acknowledged Cole's emerging figure. Leaving Cole in a cloud of dust, as he coughed and covered his eyes.
I screamed out for Cole to keep running, to catch up to me. I needed him to comfort me like he always did. However this time I was on my own, with two police officers and a pair of bleeding hands.
Oh joy!
