The fight against the Overmind was finally over but the remaining Zerg forces still roams on Aiur.
It's been a few hours ever since I passed out. Lupin managed to stay awake after all that fight but only I lost consciousness. I guess my stamina isn't really that high compared to his.
I winced and grabbed my head. "Ugh...my head hurts." I rise slowly and scanned my surroundings.
I'm inside a terran room with new sets of clothes. I heard a voice behind me.
"Hey you, you're finally awake."
It was Lupin.
I stood up and walk towards him slowly.
Ugh...headaches. I winced again and grabbed my head.
"How's the war? How's everyone?" I asked Lupin.
He was crossing his arms while leaning against the wall. "The war is over but the fight is still ongoing. The surviving Protoss are planning to evacuate to Zeratul's homeworld."
"And where would that be?" I raised my eyebrow.
"...Shakuras." He replied nonchalantly.
We went silent for a few seconds and then, I spoke up. "I guess...we can't really find a way to go home now when they're this busy."
Lupin sighs. "Theo, I've been thinking..."
"Yeah?"
"...maybe we should detach ourselves from them. Our job here is basically done anyways. I know Raynor and the others are in need of assistance but...this isn't our fight in the first place. We only helped them because Tassadar agreed to help us find a way home. But now that he's gone..." Lupin frowned.
I clenched my teeth as I hung my head down. I chuckled weakly and smiled. "Now that you mention it...you're right."
I sit down on the bed where I slept and pondered.
Lupin is correct. We only helped them because of Tassadar's deal. In that case, there should be no reason to help them any longer. We didn't do it out of duty or charity, but because of the deal we made back then. Along the way, we became friends with Tassadar and the others but at the end of the day, this is none of our concern.
Thinking about it, we were forcefully dragged all the way here into this place and entered a deal with an alien because he agreed to help us find a way back to Remnant.
I took a deep breath and exhaled. I chuckled. "There would be mixed feelings among them you know? But still..."
Lupin interjected. "I know this is a lot to take in...especially since Tassadar is...was our friend that died in the war. But think about it. We still need to prioritize our main objective. And that is going home."
I sigh. "Going home huh?"
Lupin approached the door and opened it. "We're not heartless creatures Theo. I want to help them too so I understand what you're thinking. But this is no longer our concern. The Protoss should solve this problem by themselves. We should prioritize going home now than ever. I don't want to live and die in a place like this and I'm pretty sure you feel the same way too."
And then, he exited the room, leaving me to myself.
"Tassadar..." I mumbled.
* * *
I went out of my room, wearing my casual clothes. I head towards their cafeteria to grab something to eat.
"Oh, you're finally awake huh?" Raynor was sitting in front of a table, watching the news from his TV.
