Day 71
I sat in my room. In the house we currently occupied there was a lot of space and one of the perks of being the only girl in the group was that everyone, without discussion agreed, that I should have my own room.
I did protest this in the beginning as I didn't want to be singled out like that, but Yoongi, as leader, was pretty quick and clear in the decision and therefore, I gave up.
There wasn't much that we knew about the others. They looked like us but there were very obvious differences as well. They didn't speak any earth language, their eyes missed pupils and they all wore these special masks, which we assumed they needed to breathe on our planet.
One of the things we did know was that they disliked water.
Imagine that right? Invading a planet of which 71% of the surface is water. It wasn't that it killed them or anything but they just avoided rivers, lakes, and the sea. Or at least that is what we heard on the emergency radios while we were in Jin's parents' basement.
It made me curious what their purpose was, and their goal for coming here.
It also became clear to us that our plan to hide for a full month was one to our advantage. It wasn't only humans that ran out of firepower, the others did as well. The bombings stopped and our encounters at this time with them hardly involved firepower as well. But they were quicker and in general more enhanced in combat which was our disadvantage.
We all owned a gun for emergencies, but as Yoongi had repeatedly urged was that we shouldn't use it unless absolutely necessary.
It wasn't as if ammunition was lying around.
In the end, it was their dislike of water that made us where we were.. currently making our way to Jeju island. But as far as we heard on the radio was that ships were waiting to get us to Jeju island and the others hadn't made any attempt to cross the ocean.
By foot it was a horribly long way, it sometimes seemed funny to me how big the world was before the others came. We could take the car, or a bus, or a train or even planes to wherever we wanted to go. within half a day I could be in Europe if I wanted to, or rather if I had the money for it. but now that all the cars were out of gas and there was no supply anymore, and all the public transportation was of course out of service we had the choice of walking or bicycling.
In the beginning, we biked a bit, Namjoon made a big case in favor of it. but soon multiple people had a flat tire and we had to pass a forest which on such bikes wasn't too realistic.
At the current moment, we were having a rest day in one of the deserted houses on our way. We all knew it wasn't feasible to walk every day for miles and miles.
We needed rest days. It wasn't the let's do-nothing day, it just didn't consist of a lot of walking.
We always chose bigger houses for obvious reasons, not only because it would be more space for all of us but also because we would often clear out the living room and make it our practice room. It was one of the things we agreed on that we should make time for as well.
It was always Yoongi who supervised our practice, as he had experience in martial arts from his childhood and teenage years. Apparently, he gave up on it when starting college as he had to move from Daegu to Seoul. In Daegu was his martial arts school and his friends he would train with.
I understood the importance of these repeated training, the others were stronger in combat than we were. I mean I hadn't had any combat training before this all happened, why would I? I was starting college and studying, there was no need to use swords or shoot guns.
The training buddies now were pretty much decided, Namjoon would go with Hoseok, I would go with Jin, and Hueningkai's group would rotate.
There was always that clear split between our two groups. I mean we were all getting along for sure but it made sense we would hang out and train with the people we knew the best.
I stood in front of Jin, we both had our swords in our hands.
Instead of a successful attempt at tackling Jin, I fell flat on my face. I looked confused as to why that happened, but I soon saw my shoelaces were untied.
Jin chuckled
'hey y/n, you shoe'dnt leave your laces untied.'
He started to laugh like his crazy laugh he always did, and I as well because I found him hilarious.
Everyone stopped their practice to see what made us laugh so hard. Yoongi walked our way with a severe look
'You two think this is so funny?'
'Come on Yoongi, we were just making jokes.' Jin replied still smiling.
Yoongi took out his sword and aimed for Jin, but I quickly grabbed my sword and blocked him. Both Jin and he turned their faces to me in surprise.
'as Jin said, we were just making jokes, but we understand the importance of this training' I said while staring into Yoongi's eyes.
He huffed 'okay if you understand, get back on your feet and have a duel with me'
'what?' I asked baffled
'you can show me how important it is'
I slowly got back up to my feet.
The confidence I had shown a minute ago was now hard to find.
'you can try first' he said calmly. I hesitated
'it's important right?' he added
I tried to strike him with my sword but within no time my sword was on the ground
'Again' Yoongi commanded
I did so, this time I was angrier and wanted to get revenge. Not with a lot of success because he soon struck it out of my hand again.
'Again' he stated and I again picked up my sword.
The whole atmosphere in the room was tense
It was humiliating. I knew everyone in the room was watching us with full attention and that bothered me even more.
The next blow of Yoongi, which got the sword out of my hand, really seemed to be the last drop as my body was trembling with anger.
'I'm done' I let out angrily and without any further word I stormed out.
