FLASHBACK CONT…
“Noooo…” I whined, hugging Aston tight around the waist.
“Shhh…” he laughed, his fingers dancing along my back.
“You can’t leave me!”
“I’ve got to!” he said.
“Noooo!!!’
“It’s only a few weeks.”
“A few?! A million!” I said.
“Three.”
“Three or a million. Whatever!” I sighed, pulling him tight against me, my legs wrapping around his. He couldn’t move if he wanted to.
“Aww Jess babe,” he laughed, “I’ll be back in no time. I’d never really leave you!”
“Promise.”
“Promise. Cross my heart hope to die…”
“Stick a needle in your eye?”
“Gruesome babe,” Aston laughed, kissing my head lightly.
“I just hate when you go away.”
“I’ll be here always,” he grinned, “You’re mine forever!!!”
“Hmmph! Not until you put a ring on it!” I scoffed. The second the words came out of my mouth I felt my cheeks blush bright red. We’d only been together a little over six months. Was a bit soon to be blurting things like that out!
“I will!” Aston said slyly, “When the time is right… It’ll happen.”
“Ok right,” I said, hoping to change the subject.
Truth be told I knew we were a match made in heaven. We were absolutely inseparable. We didn’t even live together but I knew that was coming not far down the road. We spent practically every night together anyways.
Our friends were a bit shocked at how fast things went for us once we’d said ‘I love you.’ To me it didn’t feel fast, but I guess we both fell hard.
“You should come with!” Aston said.
“Bit late notice,” I replied.
“Really?”
“Yeah!” I said, “I’m scheduled to teach lessons!”
“Can’t you say something came up?” he asked, “Even just for a week?”
“I’d love to but…”
“But what?”
“Short notice!”
“What if I sorted your ticket and everything? All you’d have to do is cancel a week of lessons.”
“What about my students?” I asked.
“They’ll be ok for a week off! Actually I bet they’ll love it.”
“You’re an enabler,” I laughed.
“You’re the one complaining about being away from me for three weeks.”
“Truth.”
“So come to America!” Aston said.
“I’ve never left Britain before...”
“Always an opportunity for something new…”
I unwrapped my limbs from him, cuddling next to him as I thought about it. It did sound exciting, to go off to America to visit my boyfriend for a week. How exotic.
