Sasuke ran.
The wind was rapidly blowing through his hair and many people was in his way, but he could care less.
The only thing going through his mind was-
Naruto
Naruto
Naruto
It seemed like his body was moving too slow for his mind and the queasy feeling in his stomach kept growing.
Naruto was supposed to be safe, he promised Sasuke that he'd stay safe when he left to train with his pervy godfather, which by the way was a Legendary Sannin.
He ran as soon as he and Kakashi heard a nurse gossiping about how the stray Uchiha put Asuma's girlfriend in a Genjutsu after she tried to do it to him first.
Which by the way- what the entire fuck did she think would happen? Did she really think that she would get the better of Sasuke's big brother? Trying be the main character n shit.
Anyway-
One of Kakashi's dogs was leading the way to his Naruto. They did not even think for second before they started running to their loved ones.
Sasuke didn't know why, but Kakashi face when he heard the older Uchiha name was unsettling. It was longing, anger, confusion, but most of all
Love.
Did Kakashi love his brother? That was impossible. They probably didn't even know each other. He never saw them hanging around each other. Itachi never had any friends nor cruches. If he did then he'll surely tell his little brother. They never kept secrets from each other.
But then again what did he really know about his big brother. It was clear that they did not tell everything to each other. If they did then
then-
No it was not the time to think about that. He had to worry about his blonde.
If Kakashi loved Itachi so much, then he'll let him worry about Itachi.
A bark broke him out of his jealous thoughts as they turned the corner to a inn.
"He's up there, boss. Fourth floor." The grumpy dog said, then proofed away.
They wasted no time and started to run up the side of the inn. Sasuke heard Kakashi's chidori come to life next to him. They only exchanged one nod before the wall crumpled underneath the power of Kakashi's jutsu.
Itachi.
Naruto.
The two people he loved most were right in front of him. In another world his heart would melt at the sight, but alas this wasn't a fairy tale. They were enemies, not allies. Itachi had hurt him more than he could ever imagine.
But that didn't stop his heart from jumping around in his ribcage. Was he taking care of himself? Was he eating right? Did he have a good night's rest? He couldn't stop himself from worrying about his big brother.
He looked towards Naruto to find him safe, and let out a small breath of relief. He didn't know what he would've done if Itachi had hurt him.
They exchanged a look of comfort before Sasuke looked back at Itachi. Itachi was looking directly at him before his eyes briefly flickered to Kakashi.
Itachi looked different from when the last time Kakashi seen him. More mature, taller, more handsome but mostly his eyes changed.
They held so much sorrow in them that it made Kakashi's heart hurt. He wanted nothing more than to hold him in his arms, and kiss him until the pain went away.
Sasuke and Kakashi were shinobi, they were always prepared for battle.
But-
they couldn't. Not with Itachi. No. They weren't strong enough to fight him, to hurt him.
The silence grew more and more tense with each second that past. Naruto was about to speak when Itachi beat him to it.
"I didn't come here to fight." His smooth voice pierced through the inn halls. A shiver went down Kakashi's back at the sound of his lover's voice.
"Then why did you come here?" Naruto asked, fully aware that his sensei and Sasuke weren't going to say anything anytime soon.
Itachi stopped looking at his brother to turn to Naruto. He looked surprisingly calm to say that the organization he was in was coming after the nine-tails. His arms were crossed against his chest and he was leaning on the door frame. Naruto kept eye contact with him and didn't look intimidated in the slightest. It was almost as if he was challenging the Uchiha prodigy.
What an interesting child.
"I came here to talk." He spoke, also showing that Naruto's calm demeanor wasn't threatening at all to him.
Naruto pushed himself off of the door frame and opened the door wider, "Then come in, let's talk. We have about 45 minutes until pervy sage comes back."
Itachi didn't miss a beat and walked into the hotel room, while Naruto had to jerk his head for Kakashi and Sasuke to enter.
Sasuke gave Naruto a look of uncertainty, but the blonde just smiled and put his hand on his lower back to assure him that everything will be fine. Sasuke instantly calmed down. He was glad Naruto was there to calm him down, because he would've been feeling lost without him.
They walked into the small living room and there was tea already waiting for them on the coffee table, a sign that Naruto had expected this, and they all took a seat. Sasuke and Naruto on one side while Itachi and Kakashi on the other. They didn't speak for a few minutes. Only sipped their tea and looked at each other, observing, in a comforting silence. As if they were not in a room with a SS criminal.
But they did, because they all just wanted to pretend, just for a while, that this was normal. That nothing changed, and nothing ever bad happened to them, that they were just any other normal family.
But, of course, this wasn't fansty. The had to come back to the real world. The ugly, cruel shinobi world that they all despised.
In a world that they were all just pawns to a crooked, cheating game that none of them had a fair chance of beating from the beginning.
Sasuke put his mug down and took a deep breath. Proud of himself for being this calm and collected, well for now at least.
"Okay, let's talk."
