We Need Each Other

How it started -

Pain.
Horrid unimaginable pain.
But he was used to it. How could he not be? This has been happening since he was barely a toddler. He didn't even cry out when they hurt him anymore. No, he was stronger that, he wasn't weak, not anymore. And he wasn't going to do something as weak as cry.

He started to walk to his class. He was already late so he might as well take his time. It was the day that he was going to know who his team was. He wasn't all that excited. All he hoped for was that Sakura was not on his team. And for Kami sake if Sakura and Sasuke was on his team together he would probably have an heart attack, they would never get any work done. He finally reached the door to the classroom. He tried to put on his fake smile that he wore everyday but he just couldn't not today. He was just tired.

He slowly opened the door as he kept his head up, to at least seem to be his 'normal' self. Everyone eyes went to him but he didn't pay it no mind.

"Do you have any excuses for being late this time?" Iruka said disappointingly while tapping his foot, one hand had a sheet of paper the other on his hip. He was naruto favorite teacher, Iruka used to treat him like a friend or older brother, but Iruka slowly drifted after naruto beatings started to get worse and he started to come late and sleep during class.

Naruto just shook his head no and walked to the seat next to Sasuke. He didn't mind Sasuke, he was quiet, smart, and though he can be an ass sometimes, he was always 'nice' to him. He gave a nod to Sasuke as a greeting and received a confused one back.

Sasuke knew that something was up with Naruto. He knew his body language. How his shoulders slumped and a small and almost unnoticed tug at his lips downwards. Those beautiful ocean blue eyes, that anyone could get lost in, were a little duller today. He furrowed his eyebrows but looked at the front of the class so he wouldn't get caught staring.

Iruka just shook his head in disappointment. Even though Naruto passed, since he was playing as the idiot of the class, he still had the lowest scores.

"Since everyone is here-" Iruka started to read but was interrupted by a s a certain pink haired girl. She loudly interrupted," I thought Naruto didn't pass what is he doing here! He is the weakest in the class!"

While most people agreed with her, Shikamaru, Ino, and Sasuke were steaming with anger. Shikamaru was always there for Naruto, he even knew the real Naruto, he would always know when he was telling the truth or not. Naruto thought he was to smart for his own good. Ino knew Naruto after she seen him all bruised one night at an alleyway, she brought him to her house while her parents were out and patched him up. She never asked questions because she knew he didn't want to be asked. She would always come up with excuses to bring flowers to his apartment just to visit him. Both Shikamaru and Ino were about to say something but to their surprise Sasuke spoke up.

"Can't you see he has his headband on? He passed and it doesn't matter how either just mind your business so we can get this over with. Continue sensei." He said to what people thought was calmly but it had that venom, that he was trying to hide, slipped out.

Everyone paused for a second. Did the Uchiha just stand up for someone, better yet for Naruto?

Naruto turned his head to look at Sasuke. He seemed calm but he could tell he wasn't, not at all. Naruto laid his head on the table and gave Sasuke a soft smile. Sasuke calmed down a bit but was still a little bit angry. He didn't why he was angry.

It wasn't like they were friends.

Iruka was the first one to speak, " Ok let's move on. I will be calling out your name and what team your on so listen up." He took a breath a started saying the teams names.

Naruto didn't feel like paying attention so he continued to look out the window. It was a beautiful day. The sun was out, the birds were chirping, and the flowers seemed to dance in the wind.

He felt a nudge at his side. Sasuke pointed up front at Iruka who was tapping his foot and looking at him with what could be annoyance.

" Am I  boring you Naruto? "

Nartuo sat up and shook his head no. " No I'm sorry it won't happen again." Iruka huffed and continued.

"As I was saying, team 7 will be Naruto Uzumaki, Sakura Haruno, and Sasuke Uchiha-" he was interrupted by Naruto hitting his head on his desk. Everyone was confused. They thought that he liked Sakura they thought he would be excited, so why was he doing that? 

The one thing I asked to not happened and it happens. This world really hates me.

While Naruto was sulking, Sakura was saying how unfair it was to have Naruto in her team but was lucky to have Sasuke with her. Sasuke was indifferent about on the outside but inside he was highly annoyed with Sakura being on the same team as them. 

****************************Meanwhile in the Hokage office**********************************

Kakashi was thinking hard, thinking very hard. He had two clan heirs and an fan girl. If he was going to be demoted to Jonin from an Anbu Captain, his team was going to be the best team there was. They would surpass the Sannin, the Kages, and any other people that were powerful. By the looks of it he had his hands full, fuller then what he would like. But he liked an challenge. He chuckled to himself, gaining the attention of all the people in the room. 

"What are you giggling to your self for, Kakashi?" had asked the 3rd. He was curious about what he could be laughing about. When he had told him that he was demoted he was rather mad and the old man didn't exactly give him the easiest team, to be honest he gave him the hardest.

Kakashi just simply waved him off. " Ma Ma, I was just thinking about how my team will destroy everyone else's." He was cocky yes, but he wasn't telling any lies. There was no doubt in his voice and that is what made everyone in the room catch chills. 

Although everyone was shocked, and a little sacred, Kurenai and Asuma were the ones who had other ideas. They didn't really like Kakashi, he was cocky but was always right and that irritated them down to their bone. 

"Cocky bastard. All you ever do is brag and make wrong assumptions. But all you are is a bastard that got a team with a girl that cares more about a boy than her own life, an orphan that has an ego bigger than his body, an a demon-"

"Enough! I will not tolerate that language in my office. It's time for you to pick up your students." Hiruzen interrupted Kurenai before she could say  anymore.

" But lord 3rd did you not hear what he said-" He just held his hand up to silence her. He looked at Kakashi who went back to reading his book. He shook his head at the Jonin in his office. He then spoke. "Kakashi although she was wrong to say that, you better back up what you claim to say and that means being better than any other team to live." He took a pause then said, " It means being better than me." He tried to sound threatening and he did, to  everyone besides Kakashi. 

Kakashi put his book up and turn to leave the room. Before he left though he said, " When have I ever been wrong." and he left. Leaving a room of Jonin, Anbu, and the Hokage stunned. 

They may have knew it but this was how it all started.
