Chap. 1 Audrey

Audrey Lynn Carter was usually excited when she went to Diagon Alley. She might have been over excited at times considering that one of her best friends, Carina, was constantly telling her to calm down. This was her fourth year, but was it different for some reason. Today reminded Audrey of the feeling she had when Carina was put in Ravenclaw House. It’s because she’s muggle born, isn’t it? was what she thought as she walked to the Slytherin common room. Anyway, Audrey was trying to put all of her bad thoughts aside when she saw the news. “Does the Dark Lord Return?” That was a strange headline and it didn’t sound very pleasant.

“Mum! Did you see today’s headline?” she asked.

“Yes I did Audrey. It was very shocking. There hasn’t been an attack since Potter defeated ‘You Know Who.’” said Audrey’s mother.

“Audrey!” exclaimed another voice. It was Carina. As usual, she was carrying a new book.

“Hi Cari! I see you have a new book.”

“Yeah, but that’s not what I want to talk about.”

“Really? Are you feeling alright?”

“I was talking to Jaiden and Calla. Is it true? The newspaper says…”

“I don’t know.”

“Well…”

They were interrupted by Audrey’s mother. She told them to stop talking about it and that they should focus on getting their school things. As Audrey and Carina were buying their books, Jaiden walked in.

“Hi Audrey and Rina! How are my partners in crime today?”

“I’ve told you a million times that I’m not involved in any crimes whatsoever. I have also told you, a million times, not to call me Rina.” Carina answered.

Audrey chose not to answer. She did not feel like getting in another argument with Jaiden. They were always “pointlessly arguing” as Carina and Calla put it.

“What’s wrong with her? I thought Calla was the quiet one in the group.” said Jaiden.

“I don’t know.” Carina replied, “She must be having a bad day. Audrey, is there something wrong? I thought you loved coming to Diagon Alley.”

“It’s nothing. I’m okay.” was all Audrey said. She knew that Carina knew that it wasn’t nothing. She also knew that Carina knew better than to argue.
