Chapter 11 Carina

Chap. 11 Carina

She didn't show it, but Carina was really jealous of her friends. Why didn't I get a gift

from Professor Potter? she asked herself, Maybe only three people are enough for this. It was only him, Ron, and Hermione after all. She sighed, then thought for a minute. I know how to apparate. Maybe Professor saw me leave his house... still she was the only one who hadn't received a gift and felt left out. When Carina felt bad, the first place she went was the library, so that's where she headed. When she got there, she found it empty, exactly how she liked it. She could have the library all to herself. She curled up in her favorite seat and re-read her book about Harry Potter. She was at the part when Hermione was describing the dementors when she felt a draft. That's funny, she thought, there are no open windows.

"Hello?" she called, "Is someone here?" No answer. Maybe I'm getting too sucked in this book. she thought. It was beginning to get very cold in the library and she was starting to see her breath. "Jaiden?! Jaiden if that's you, knock it off! It's really cold in here!!" Still no answer. Suddenly, she felt a cold breath on her neck. She swallowed. Jaiden was in Headmistress McGonnagal's office... She spun around to see a dementor floating right there. It was exactly how Hermione described it... then it ATTACKED. Carina screamed as the dementor began to suck all of the good memories and all the good feelings she had. She collapsed to the ground

After what felt like eternity, a blinding burst of light, and a Griffin appeared causing the dementor to flee. "EXPECTO PATRONUS!" She lay on the floor limp, only to be lifted up by none other than Eric. "We need to get you to the Hospital Wing."

Carina began muttering inaudibly, weakly, before passing out.

Jaiden heard the scream from Headmistress' office. "Excuse me Headmistress but I have to leave!" He said rushing out and down to the library. When no one was there he headed to the hospital wing. He and Audrey reached door at the same time. "You heard the scream?" They chorused, out of breath from running. Then they stopped breathing altogether. "CARINA!" They both ran inside, to see an unconscious Carina lying on a cot.

Audrey ran to the cot and noticed a peculiar face. "Eric...What are you doing here? What did you do to CARINA!?"

Eric put his hands up in defense. "I didn't do anything I swear! I found her like this!"

Audrey raised her wand to his throat. "So help me, If you did something to her I'll-"

She was cut off by Jaiden pulling her back. "Okay that's enough talk between you two." He turned to Eric. "What happened?"

"Um, well we met at the library so she could help me with some homework, and she collapsed."

"Why didn't Madame Pomfrey just use the Rennervate spell? Carina has never fainted before. Are you sure that's what happened?" Audrey asked.

"She said something about how it wouldn't work in her state... I don't know?"

"Hmm..." said Audrey, uncertain.

At that moment, Carina began to move.

"Rina?" asked Jaiden, "Hey."

"Jaiden? Audrey?"

"Cari, do you remember what happened?" Audrey asked.

"I don't know. The last thing I remember is... a really bright light." Carina said, weakly, "I think... wait! It was a dementor! I swear! It was just like in the book I was reading."

"What!?" Jaiden and Audrey exclaimed, at the same time.

"It was really there! I saw it, the room got cold and everything! I... was terrified."

"She's probably still sick." said Eric cautiously.

"No, I really saw it! You were there! You guys have to believe me!" Carina cried.

"I believe you." said Audrey, "Jaiden, bring Eric back to your common room. I want to ask Carina what really happened."

After Jaiden and Eric left, Carina told the whole story about her encounter with the dementor. That completely contradicts what Eric told us. Audrey thought as Carina spoke. She knew that Carina was a very detailed person and could remember almost anything.

"Well, we should tell Professor Potter." said Audrey, "When you get better, we'll go."

"Okay. Audrey?"

"Yeah?"

"Tell Jaiden not to call me Rina."

At least we know she's alright. Audrey laughed. "Sure thing Cari!" She said walking off.
