You promised yourself that Rodrick Heffley would not set foot in your room, yet here you were getting it ready for him to come over. You thought, maybe you could just use the basement area to talk to each other and come up with a game plan. But on the off chance Rodrick was acting like you know he would, you decided it would be beneficial for you to clean your room since you knew what a nosy bitch he was. He had no idea of boundaries so you knew if you didn't clean your room, he was most definitely going to be making some kind of comment. Which was a dumb thing to worry about because you cannot imagine his room is any better.
It was really your aunt's fault for signing you up for this. Just because it would get her ratings up, maybe, it was not going to be worth the trouble. When she got off from work you were going to have some words with her. You had only mentioned the Heffley's once to her in the five minutes of conversation you had. Why did she think any of this was a good idea? You didn't even mention that you had a good time, just that you had dinner there. You heard a knock on the window well and knew it was Rodrick. You walked over, flipping the latch and watching him fall onto the main basement floor.
"You know," you start while shutting the window once more. "My front door works perfectly fine. Even the back door or hell even the garage. Why do you insist on the window?" You walk over towards the computer that was lying on the coffee table. Your room was off to the side with its own separate door that you had locked for good reason. Or at least you thought you locked it, you weren't really sure how to lock it from the outside.
The main basement had a few couches, a desktop, a coffee table with a few side tables and a large tv. Honestly it was the perfect hangout spot. Aunt Mabel said you could decorate it however you want and you decided that would be a job for another day.
"Yeah, but imagine how cool it sounds to say I snuck into a girl's window! Like you said, new kids get major popularity points, and you are the new kid who drives a motorcycle, which by the way; still badass. But as a rock star I do have a reputation to keep up! Plus it's the fastest way and if I'm gonna keep up with Miss Motorcycle, I gotta be fast." Rodrick said, dusting himself off. As he stood, he swayed slightly and then went to take his shoes off. You thought, Wow, at least there's some manners happening here. But then you hoped his feet were not rotting and gross. Luckily, he had socks on and you did not smell any odor.
"Funny, I thought Mrs. Baxter said something about fixing that 'reputation' of yours?" Picking up your laptop, you quickly start a Google doc. You needed to make a list and basically a schedule of when to meet and what to work on. This was going to be rough. Where to even start trying to fix the fuckup that is Rodrick Heffley?
"[Y/N], I know we have to make me into a 'respectable, young man,' but I still fully expect to stay cool throughout the process. I am not losing my style." Rodrick throws his hands up to the side as if he was shrugging his shoulders. You roll your eyes at him.
"No one said you would. Look, school is all about training you to become a good, law abiding citizen. That's it. If we can prove you can be that or even get you better grades, then we may have a chance at this. So, maybe we should do a list first to find your best qualities and focus on those. What are your best qualities?" You look up at him, still standing around like an idiot. He finally takes the hint and sits on the other end of the couch.
"Drums, duh." Rodrick puts his feet on the coffee table and you remind yourself to clean it later. The Lord only knows what boys' feet carry.
"Okay, do you give lessons to poor kids? Has your drumming changed lives?" As soon as you said that question you regretted it. Rodrick shot up and went on at least a five minute rant on how he changed so many of Plainview citizens' lives due to his rocking. This story included the Talent show and Heather Hill's birthday party which you once again had to hear about.
