Rodrick was in less of a state of shock than you were last night. He was able to explain the entirety of what had happened. Which was a lot.

Apparently the way he remembered it was that as soon as you got inside the lodge. You slapped the shit out of Heather and she lost it and jumped onto you. Then Rodrick tried to keep Kai back so you and Heather could fight each other. Then at that point Kai punched Rodrick, which gave him a wicked black eye. Once the fight was broken up, Mrs. Baxter went to get a van and Mr. Underwood collected all of your things from the cabin.

The drive home was just filled with a lecture from Mrs. Baxter said how embarrassed she was for the Fail-Safe program that we had done something so awful. She had banned us from both Prom and Graduation, none of which mattered anymore because you couldn't be in Battle of the Bands.

"Why not? We can just tell Mabel you were joking about it. Said someone took our phones as a prank." You said, sitting cross legged on your bed. Rodrick was pacing in your room, something he did when stressed.

"Nope. He said he and Heather wouldn't press legal charges for fighting them if we didn't compete. Your dad might not bail you out this time and my family certainly can't. And there's no way I can see your dad wanting to help bail me out when I got you into this mess in the first place. I always knew Kai was a vindictive ass, but I couldn't believe he would blame you for something that happened between his dad and your mom like 15 years ago." Rodrick was going to wear track lines into your carpet from his constant pacing. Or give you whiplash from how fast he kept moving.

"So we can't even try to explain the situation to Mabel? I know she tried to talk to me when I got home, but maybe we could explain something? Anything?" You shake your head in disbelief. There wasn't going to be a way out of this. No way could Rodrick plan for something like this. He can't save you both this time.

"We could explain, but she can't take him out of The Battle of the Bands without solid proof. Since you were singing on the track we entered, it could be seen as a conflict of interest or whatever." Rodrick stops pacing and stands near your closet. He looks so defeated when he whispers, "We are screwed. I am so sorry, Panda. I didn't mean for any of this to happen." You stand up and walk towards him, taking his hands in yours.

"Who says we need prom or graduation. As long as we're together, we can figure something out. If we don't, let's just run away to Maine right now." You pull his hands up and kiss his knuckles. He smiles and you feel a little peace to this chaos.

"I don't think running away is the answer..." Your head and Rodrick's quickly whips towards your bedroom door. There was Madison, in your room, uninvited. You obviously made some kind of face because she then tries to defend herself.

"Now, before you try to bitch slap me or bite me or throw me out... Just listen to what I have to say. Okay? I know how to get back at Heather and Kai." She moves into your room slowly and sits down near your dresser where your make-up chair sat. Rodrick holds onto your hand and pulls you towards the bed.

"You aren't seriously considering listening to what she has to say?" You say, anger laced into your voice.

"Madison wasn't there that night. She looked surprised when you called out Heather. I think we should at least listen to her..." Rodrick pulls you down onto the edge of the bed to sit. He's lucky you love him and will give one chance.

"Fine. Madison, you have 5 minutes before I call the cops saying you broke into my house." You cross your arms and wait for her to start.

"I am so sorry Rodrick and [Y/N]. I had no idea Heather and Kai had this weird revenge plan! After you guys left camp, she told me everything. How Kai found you on the first day of school, how she told me to go and talk to you and be your friend. I just thought she meant we could have another girl in our group. But Heather is jealous of any girl that isn't her. Then on your birthday, I thought maybe she just wanted to come into your room to make-out but... She was just using me..." Madison takes a breath and you can see she is actually upset. "I was so drunk that night, and I don't even remember her going through your things. And then when the storm started picking up at camp, she told me to stay at the lodge and that she and Kai would find you. When she came back with you guys I was so relieved, but then you said she was evil and that I was too. I was so confused. Once she told me what she had done..." Madison was fully crying now. What were you thinking? Of course Madi had nothing to do with this. She was always too sweet. She kept going, pushing through her tears.

"She wasn't even Kai's friend until like two years ago! She only went along with the plan because she wants to win Battle of the Bands so she can get famous. They didn't let me in on the plan because they knew I was friends with Rodrick before I even met Kai... Rodrick, I should have stayed as your friend in middle school. I'm sorry I left you. I'm sorry this happened to you. I'm sorry. I haven't been a very good friend to you and I want to make things right." Madi just sits there crying to herself, rubbing away her tears with the back of her hand. It really is sad watching her do this. It's like watching a little girl cry, which is what Madison was. She wasn't evil or cruel. She was just someone else who was used by Kai. She was innocent in all of this. You just knew it.

Rodrick gets up from the bed and kneels in front of Madi. She takes her hands and holds them, making her look at him and stop crying for a moment. Rodrick reaches up behind her and grabs the tissue box sitting on your dresser. He hands her the box and she quickly takes a tissue.

"Madi, I know you wouldn't do this. We've been friends since we were kids, long before Kai or Heather. I'm sorry I didn't try to explain more about what happened in 8th grade with Kai. I think I was just scared of admitting that maybe I am just a lover boy, like you call me. I don't care who I love, just as long as I love them and they love me." Rodrick looks back at you and makes a small smile. You smile back at him, knowing he's saying what he can't say. That he likes boys and girls. And you smile back accepting him for who he is because you love him.

"That's why I came to tell you. You and [Y/N] don't have to give up! I want to help you get your own revenge." Madison seemingly remembers why she came here quite suddenly. She's up on her feet grabbing Rodrick by the shoulders.

"We can't. Kai threatened to charge us with assault. It's over." You say. While you love her enthusiasm, it was over. No Concert, or prom, or graduation.

"Not unless he also did something illegal. And we have proof of it." Madi smiles at both of you and wiggles her eyebrows."

"What are you thinking exactly?" You say, slowly getting off the bed.

Madison just smiles even bigger and starts to jump up and down. What does she know that you don't?
