AFTER SPENDING a rather uncomfortable night in the subway vent, the trio managed to make their way out of town and somehow ended up at a small gas station. Which worked out pretty well considering they needed to stock up on supplies anyway.
They all entered the small shop and broke off on their own, each looking around the shelves that seemed to grab their attention as they grabbed the things they needed.
"The Red Room's still active." Natasha broke the silence. "Where is it?"
"I have no idea." Yelena replied as she made her way into the back room of the shop to look at the medicinal section. "He moves location constantly. And every widow is sedated on entry and exit for maximum security."
Carson took a bottle of water from the small fridge that was in the main room of the shop, unscrewing the cap and drinking from it before paying, only to be met with the shopkeeper glaring at him as he turned around.
He stopped drinking the water and shrugged at the man. "Well this is awkward."
Natasha followed Yelena into the back room and made her way over to the small sink that was in the corner. "I'm just finding it hard to believe that he could stay off my radar."
"Well, it's not smart to attack and Avenger if you want to stay hidden." Yelena pointed out. "I mean, the clue is in the name. Dreykov kills you, one of the big ones comes to avenge you."
"Wait, what are the big ones?" Natasha asked genuinely curious.
Yelena took some ibuprofen from the shelf and wiggled it around. "I doubt the god from space has to take in ibuprofen after a fight."
Carson let out a breathy laugh at Yelena's comment as he leant in the doorway, joining the other two. He cleared his throat and looked between the two sisters before speaking up.
"Sorry, carry on." He apologized making Yelena chuckle a little.
If he was being honest, he was surprised that Yelena didn't pull a face or make another snarky comment. Well, that's certainly progress.
"Where did you think I was all this time?" She turned her attention back to Natasha.
Natasha stayed silent for a moment before speaking up. "I thought that you got out and were living a normal life."
"And you just never made contact again?"
"Honestly, I thought you didn't want to see me." The redhead replied as she started washing her hands.
"Ha. Bullshit." Yelena scoffed and made her way back into the front room. "You just didn't want your baby sister to tag along whilst you saved the world with the cool kids."
"You weren't really my sister."
An uncomfortable silence fell over the shop as those words left Natasha's mouth. Carson looked over at Yelena who was looking down at the ground, biting the inside of her cheek to try and hide the fact that her sisters words hurt her. But be had already caught it.
He gave Natasha a look as she moved past him but before she could fully walk away he grabbed hold of her arm, making her look back up at him.
