We set off. The doctor looked very nervous. Good. The less people on the streets, the more space we have for disappearing.

He looks over at me, a confused look on his face as I stare out into the middle of nowhere in particular.

"Can she- uh-," the doctor started.

"Does it matter?" Nina asked, whining in pain. "We need to get going!"

"Right!"

The doctor slowly started getting to work on the body. I didn't see much. Not sure that it would make a difference if I did.

"I'm sorry," the doctor spoke after a second. "He's dead."

Not completely, I thought.

The boat came to a stop by a hospital. The doctor quickly hopped out, not wanting to spend another second with us.

"Um, yes," he said. "Can you- uh- handle the body yourself?"

"Yes," Matthias pretended to sound disappointed.

"Good, good. Then I shall be leaving you. Other complications to attend to."

We didn't say anything. The doctor was more than happy to get off the boat. He wanted to seek refuge from a disease that isn't actually a disease.

"Let me help," Matthias said.

He grabbed Kuwei's body from the boat. Handing it to one of the Dregs. He turns to Nina and helps her out of the boat.

Their eyes meeting one another's. A soulmate look. A faint smile on both their faces.

"Would you stop distracting me?" Matthias whispers.

"I like distracting you," Nina said with a wink.

"Guys," I interrupt. "We have a schedule to keep. Kaz."

"Right."

"Take him," Matthias said. "I'll meet the both of you there."

"Be careful," Nina said.

"Of course," he said before heading in the opposite direction.

As I stared at the back of his head, a sinking feeling entered my stomach. I didn't know why, but there was something wrong.

We did everything right. No one suspected that Nina was anyone but a pregnant lady. No one thought I could hear. We did everything that Kaz told us too.

Yet, as I stare at Matthias walk away, it feels like we have missed something.

"Nox?" Nina said. "You coming?"

"I'll meet you there," I said. "I'm going to follow Matthias. He dropped something."

All Nina did was nod. I'm so glad she didn't ask any more questions. What would she say if I told her the truth?

The mission would never get complete. Kuwei would be dead. We're already taking a big chance at trusting Zoya's ability to bring him back. She doesn't believe she can, so why should we?

Everything will be fine. Kaz knows what he is talking about. Everyone can take care of themselves. We all will survive.
