Chapter 134: Haunted

"Rose...did he hurt you? Did Hyde touch you?" he asked. Before she might have thought it was in concern for her well being, but now she saw past that. His hand on her arm felt possessive and his eyes were mad with lust. She swallowed thickly and her heart thrummed rapidly in her chest. But she did as Hyde asked of her.

"N...no...he did not harm me or touch me," she responded.

"But he frightened you...oh I am so sorry," he said, as he pulled her into a hug, which surprised her. She wanted to push him away, but now she was afraid to anger him, for the real monster had been in front of her all along...

Snow looked up from the book and at her husband in disbelief.

"Well...that answers the question of whether he's harmless or not," David said, feeling more confident about his decision to have Whale step in to assist Jekyll.

"He just seemed so...harmless. Creepy, but completely innocuous," Snow replied. He nodded.

"His does the befuddled, awkward, bumbling doctor act very well," David agreed.

"I'm almost afraid to know what else he did to Rose Red...but I think we need to know," she added.

"Maybe, but I doubt any of it's good and you've been through so much lately," he lamented.

"I agree, but I am safe," she assured. He didn't look convinced though.

"Rose's situation is very different. I have you and half a dozen magic wielders around me to protect me. He's not getting through all of that," she assured, as she cuddled against him. He pressed his lips to her forehead.

"I know, I just don't want to take any chances. I've almost lost you too many times and just the thought of him hurting you or...Gods forbid violating you..." he lamented, but she put her arms around him.

"Baby...I'm okay. There is no way I'll ever be alone with him ever again," she assured. He sighed.

"Unless he finds a way. If he's as mad as people have suggested, then he'll do anything to see you. He'll invent reasons to interact with you," he warned.

"And I'm rarely alone. Even at work, Regina is usually just a few doors away," she reminded.

"Regina is taking time off right now," he reminded.

"Okay...so maybe if it makes you feel better, you can hire a couple of bodyguards or assign Leroy and Happy to patrol at my office," she suggested. He looked at her in surprise.

"You'd let me do that?" he asked. She smiled and kissed him tenderly.

"Will it put your mind at ease?" she asked in return. He nodded.

"I think so...would you hate it if I asked Dad and Leo to do it though?" he asked. She smiled and kissed his cheek.

"Even better," she agreed, as their lips met again, this time with more passion.

"Maybe I can just guard you myself," he suggested. She giggled.

"If you are at my office all day, I'd never get any work done," she replied.

"Would that be so bad?" he asked in a husky tone.

"Mmm...spending time with you is never a bad thing," she replied, as she kissed him again.

"But I still think we should read more, even if it might give me nightmares," she said.

"Hey, you don't have to continue if it's getting too creepy. I think we know enough," he replied. She pondered that for a moment and she shook her head.
