Chapter 149: The Final Battle, Pt 2

Fiona stood before the villains of the town and surveyed her soldiers.

"This is a pathetic army," Yzma commented.

"It won't be if you are still able to do what you do," Fiona replied, as she called their attention.

"Fellow citizens...our town is about to come under siege of some most unwelcome interlopers," she called.

"The heroes have banded together and their resolve has grown stronger with the return of their leaders. Snow White and Prince Charming," she announced. There were hisses and growls from the crowd of villains.

"They must not be allowed to get through to the asylum to rescue the Savior. If she breaks the curse, then your happy endings go away, while theirs return!" Fiona called.

"And how do you expect we do that? We're nearly evenly matched with their warriors versus ours," Sa'luk reminded. Fiona smirked.

"Not for long," she said, as she looked at her associate.

"Yzma...do it," she ordered.

"Do what?" Chad asked in concern. Since this whole thing had started, he had held out the last hope that the heroes would defeat the Black Fairy and he would finally be free. But it seemed that his hope was foolish, as usual.

"We need numbers, my son and Yzma has a whole demon army at her disposal if she so chooses to call upon them," Fiona revealed. Yzma's wand glowed and a dark vortex opened up in the sky. Shadowy figures swirled about and slowly took solid form. Some of the creatures had ashen skin and bloodshot eyes. They looked somewhat humanoid until their mouths opened, revealing a mouth full of sharp, pointed teeth, It was clear then that these things had never been human. Some of the other creatures had gray skin and snakes for hair and were bleeding from their eyes. These came with a terrible shrieking that was bone chilling. The final creatures shape shifted in various forms of monsters and revealed themselves to also have flesh tearing teeth.

"Demons, furies, and ghouls...they will help us win the day against the heroes. Without any magic...they will all fall," Yzma stated. Fiona nodded with a pleased look on her face.

"Go my army...destroy this town and all that oppose us!" Yzma ordered, as there were growls and shrieks from the creatures, as they spread into town like an infection...

Emma tossed and turned, as the same nightmare assaulted her subconscious again. It was Ms. Rocha stealing the book away and then the state committing her to an institution for very disturbed children. It was always the same every night. She was screaming, as she lost the book and then pills were forced down her throat. She was nearly catatonic when she arrived at this place where Ms. Rocha made her daily life hell and she remained institutionalized as an unstable young woman.

Tonight seemed to be no different, as it started off with Ms. Rocha stealing the book. But that's where things changed. The dream was different tonight...

Ten-year-old Emma sobbed almost uncontrollably, as she clutched her baby blanket to her chest. Ms. Rocha had stolen the book and she had been forced to watch it be thrown in the trash and taken out to the dumpster. The garbage truck had already come and now Emma feared that it was gone forever.

"Find us..." she heard a man's voice in her head and she put her hands to her ears.

"I'm trying..." she sobbed, as she got up and went to the window. A bright star twinkled in the sky above.

"Help me..." she pleaded, as she climbed back into bed and laid down, feeling more helpless than ever. Maybe it really was all fiction. Maybe her parents dumped her on the side of the road like everyone suggested her. Emma found her pillow to be rather stiff and punched it, only to find that the hardness seemed to be beneath it. She looked under it and gasped, as the book had suddenly reappeared. She looked back out the window and then down at the book. Cautiously, she opened it to the page of the crying couple holding her as a baby and with a renewed sense of hope, Emma went to sleep.
