Chapter 151: Happy Beginnings and A New Adventure
That evening at Granny's truly was a joyous celebration, as she kept the food and drink flowing for them. With the Final Battle over and them victorious, it had truly lifted a weight from their entire family and friends.
As they celebrated, Snow found herself in Charming's arms, which surprised no one, least of all them, for there was no where else Snow ever wanted to be. Somehow, despite all the incredibly daunting battles and odds, they had won. They had defeated so many evils that had threatened to tear them apart and somehow survived multiple occasions where Snow was almost sure they would be separated.
Much of that had begun with Clayton, who had forced her to crush Charming's heart. She still shuddered at the memory of those two minutes that her beloved was gone and it bothered her greatly that he was still out there. He was the one they thought they had vanquished, only to have him literally come back from the dead.
Other evils had come close to taking him away from her, but none so close as the Collector, not even Hades himself.
Then there had been Jekyll, which had been its own utterly frightening situation. They had faced, not death that time, but much worse than that. They had faced a forced separation that they would have had to endure to save their children and their people. It was the price of being leaders and there had been moments there that Snow wished they weren't leaders; that they could just be together and happy, without the worry of having to make sacrifices to ward off some evil bastard with a sick obsession. But their love had conquered the evil doctor in the end and it was a certain thing that he would never bother them again.
But it made her very uneasy that she could not say the same about the Collector and it was no surprise that David picked up on her sudden preoccupation, especially as she shuddered against him from her place in his lap.
"Hey...what is it?" he asked.
"Clayton...he's still out there," she replied. He nodded.
"I know...that's one loose end we weren't able to tie up," he stated.
"Do you think he'll come back and try to hurt us?" she asked.
"If he is a smart man, then he'll do everything in his power to never cross our path again. Because I won't hesitate this time to take him out," he replied. She nodded, agreeing wholeheartedly with that sentiment.
"I know that him being free out there somewhere is worrisome and if the time comes where we have to face him again...then we will," he said.
"Last time we went up against him, he may have been killed, but so were you," she fretted, as she choked back tears.
"Hey...that's not happening again," he promised.
"You saved me, Snow...half your heart is in my chest, because our love is too powerful to ever be destroyed. We've proven that time and again," he said, as he pressed his forehead against hers and she relished losing herself in his blue eyes.
"Now...this is supposed to be a party," he added, as he lifted her up and stood up, before placing her on her feet.
"Hey kid!" he called to their grandson and he smiled, as he went and hit a button on the jukebox. A romantic ballad began to play and he pulled her flush against him, as they began to sway.
"I know we've come very close to losing each other...more times than I want to count. But I promise you that it's never going to happen. I will always find you and you will always find me. And no matter what, I'll be by your side eternally," he promised, as she melted into him and their lips met passionately. He smiled at her, as their lips parted.
