Chapter 132: Something Just Like This
The fireplace crackled in their living room, as Snow and David cuddled together on the sofa in front of it with the baby that evening. Bobby was busied with a toy and content to climb on his parents, as they talked softly and occasionally exchanged tender, love filled kisses. Snow listened intently, as he explained his conversation with Gold and the predicament Belle was now in, because of the contract. He didn't stop there though and regaled to her everything the Dark One had revealed to him about Dr. Jekyll's past, at least the part of it before Rose Red and how Hyde came to be. When he was done, she was more than a little stunned, to say the least.
"Poor Belle..." Snow said in astonishment.
"I know...but we're not going to let Hyde take our friend's child. Even if Gold doesn't believe we can stop him, we will," he assured.
"I just hope that Gold doesn't hurt her again...or us. Charming, what if he really does team up with the Queen?" she fretted.
"I...I don't know. I'm hoping I got through and now that we have a way to stop Hyde, then he might not be as tempted," he said. She sighed.
"I still can't believe Jekyll killed a woman by pushing her out a window," she mentioned. He hummed in agreement, as he kissed her hair.
"Now you know why I was so worried about you being alone with him," he said.
"Well, now that we have that serum finished, there won't be a need for it. Besides, this is hardly the same situation. He was actually honest with me about his...admiration," she said. But he didn't look convinced.
"Maybe...but I still don't trust him. The way he looks at you makes me want to get you as far away from him as possible," he confessed. She smiled at him.
"I know...but he knows that I don't have eyes for anyone else. I mean, if you count curse years, you and I have been married almost thirty-three years. We're true love, we have five children together, and even share a heart. No one is that delusional to think they could even have any kind of chance," she reasoned. He nodded.
"True...but some people don't take rejection well, especially when they get a lot of it. Just...promise me you'll be careful," he pleaded. She smiled and kissed him again.
"I will. Besides, like I said, there's no reason for me to spend any time with him again," she reminded.
"And no one could ever take your place in my life. You're our hero," she said, as she cuddled their baby close.
"Isn't that right, sweetie? Daddy is our hero," she cooed and he cooed back to her, as he put his tiny hand on her face. David, as usual, wanted to melt at watching her with their baby or any of their children for that matter. He could just watch her for the rest of his life and be the happiest man in all the realms. In fact, he was positive he was. Being with her was truly everything. She smiled at him, as he caressed her cheek lovingly and then tucked a piece of hair behind her ear. She had begun to grow it out for a change and it was finally long enough to put in a baby ponytail, except for a few pieces that weren't quite long enough yet.
Snow shifted the baby, as he started to get fussy and rubbed his eyes, a clear indication that he was ready for bed.
"Okay sweetie...are you ready to nurse?" she cooed. He helped her shrug out of her blouse and she put him to her breast to nurse.
"There..." she cooed, as she held him and then looked up at her husband.
"Maybe Daddy can read more of Rose Red's story to us," she suggested. David smiled and grabbed the book and opened it where they had left off last.
