Chapter 140: Secrets of the Changelings
"Poor Snow..." Rose lamented, as David finished telling her what had occurred the night before. He nodded and sipped at his coffee. He was on his fifth cup, as neither of them had gotten much sleep.
"I only hope Dr. Whale is as brilliant as he boasts and can truly come up with something to help," David said, as he clenched the counter top.
"I can't keep seeing my wife go through this," he added.
"I know you're worried about Snow, but take it from someone who was almost killed by one of Jekyll's schemes. You need to be watching your own back as well," Fandral warned. David sighed.
"I know...he was dangerous enough without super strength and immunity to magic. But now? I don't even have a clue how we begin to defeat him," the prince agreed.
At that moment, Charming's phone rang and he answered it.
"Sheriff..." he answered and then listened to the person on the other end.
"You need to come get your kid, Sheriff! He's caused quite a ruckus in my bar!" the voice complained.
"Excuse me...who is this?" David demanded to know. The man started to squawk again, but the phone was pulled away from him.
"David...it's me. I was handling this, but this guy insists on making a big deal about the whole thing," Xander said.
"Okay Dad...what's going on?" David asked.
"Well...since Stromboli is dead, his place is again under new ownership. The new guy came over from the Land of Untold Stories, you know same cesspool, different owner now. Leo and I were on patrol when we got a call from Iago, the new owner. It was a drunken Aiden Slade making trouble again and he and Leo got into it. I'm trying to smooth it over with this guy, but he's not having it. I already arrested Aiden, but he's insisting that I arrest Leo too," Xander explained. David sighed.
"I'll be right there," he replied, as he hung up the phone.
"Trouble?" Fandral asked.
"My son...got into a fight with one of Storybrooke's well known bullies. He's not in a good place right now," David replied.
"The poor boy has had his heart broken more than once. Surely the owner could be a little more understanding," Rose mentioned.
"Hopefully, I can talk him into not pressing charges, at least against Leo. I'm going to enjoy throwing Aiden in jail for a while. I need to go," David said.
"Oh, well I can stay with the girls and the baby. I don't mind at all," Rose said. David smiled and handed Bobby to her.
"Thanks, I really appreciate it," he said.
"Mind if I tag along?" Fandral asked. David smiled.
"Not at all," he agreed, Fandral kissed Rose and followed Charming out.
Thirty Minutes Earlier
Xander pulled up to the establishment and killed the engine.
"Man...it doesn't matter how many times this place changes hands, it's still an eyesore," Leo mentioned. It was the worst part of town, so that had a lot to do with it. Xander snorted.
"Every town has one place like this I guess, even Storybrooke," he agreed.
"No matter how much Mom wishes she could hire a wrecking crew to level this building," Leo added, as they got out of the car. During the curse and shortly after that, this place had been Madam Medusa's. Then after her death, Stromboli had taken over and it continued to be a place where Storybrooke's scum gathered. And now, since Stromboli was also dead, it was now under new ownership. And the new name on the sign made Leo chuckle a bit.
