Chapter 137: One Little Tear
David opened the door after he got the tea going in the kitchen, finding Regina and Zelena there with a crying baby. Zelena looked frantic and Regina apologetic, as they came in.
"Thank you...I know what I'm asking," she told them both. Snow only smiled, as she peered at the baby.
"She's beautiful..." she mentioned.
"Regina says you can help...that you know how to do this," Zelena replied in irritation. Snow nodded and motioned her over to the couch.
"When Summer was born, she wanted nothing to do with a bottle. I mostly breastfed her for the first few months of her life," Snow mentioned, as she smiled at Regina.
"Regina helped me out a lot during that time, covering for me at work. I took quite a bit of time off during that time," she added, as they shared a smile.
"Can you just help me get her to stop?" Zelena snapped impatiently. Regina gave her an apologetic gaze and Snow nodded. With that, Regina and David excused themselves to the kitchen.
"Thanks again...you two would have every reason to refuse to help her," she mentioned.
"Snow and I would never not help someone, especially if it affects a child," he replied, but she noticed he was troubled.
"What's going on?" Regina asked.
"I think we have a problem..." David replied.
"Does this have anything to do with the nightmare Snow mentioned?" Regina asked. He nodded.
"Yes...except it was no ordinary nightmare," he replied.
"What do you mean?" she asked.
"The Queen and Jekyll have found a way to somehow invade her dreams or create some kind of nether realm. They had Snow trapped there in her sleep. He was tormenting her," David explained.
"But you found her," Regina said knowingly. He allowed himself a small smile.
"Yes...I don't know if it was our shared heart, but somehow I knew she needed me and I ended up there too. But Regina...it took true love's kiss to free her from whatever plane of existence that was," he replied. She looked troubled by that.
"Trapping Snow in her sleep...that could have serious consequences. The things she could do there to her...or that he could do. It would be like torturing her without actually touching her..." Regina said knowingly.
"Then you know the spell?" he asked. She nodded.
"Somewhat...I dabbled in experimenting with the dream realms after you woke Snow from the sleeping curse. I had heard about the fire room she visited as a side effect and I wanted to make her suffering permanent, even though I couldn't harm her physically after Rumple protected you both from me," she admitted uncomfortably.
"And you succeeded?" he asked. But she shook her head.
"No...the only being that has magic to have power over dreams is Morpheus. But there was Frankenstein...Whale. I asked him about it and he told me it could be possible with science...that a device that when assisted with magic could do what I wanted. But he was too consumed with bringing back his brother to be interested in helping me," Regina replied.
"So...that's why she's helping Jekyll. He must have built this for her," he realized. Regina nodded.
"It looks that way and now that they know you found her, they'll try to keep you out next time," she warned.
"This nether realm...is it real? I mean...the things happening in it. Are they real?" he questioned. She looked at him sympathetically and he knew.
