He did not expect their honeymoon to be like this, he felt it was his fault for dragging on the matter, they were both not on good talking terms, she had told him earlier that she wanted to go back home because she had been feeling sick, she vomited and also had high fever and had refused to take any medication even when he pleaded with her,Soon they had pack up, the honeymoon was cut off it was supposed to last for a few days left.
They arrived their country few hours later, from the airport, he drove home, she got down, went to freshen up and off to bed, she was not even trying to talk to him as if it was all his fault.
He got into bed, and watched her back that was turned to him, he touched her hair and moved closer to her, he ran his hands on her legs, he pulled her waist closer to him, she turned her head and stared into his light brown eyes,
He made her face him, he kissed her,
"Aren't you ever going to talk to me?, it's hurting me, please make it stop" he begged, resting his head on her neck, he was sobbing, she could feel his tears on her neck,
"Stop, stop, I'm sorry okay? Please don't cry" she said, lifting his face and wiping his tears, she smiled while they hugged.
********. **********
When he woke up, he didn't find her sleeping, he wondered where she went, he called out her name, no answer, he searched the house and eventually saw her in the kitchen on the floor, unconscious, his heart stopped beating as he stood there,
"Mmasi, Mmasi get up, what happened?"
Thankfully, she was still breathing, so he rushed her to the hospital,
They both say in the office, waiting for the doctor, she was anxious to know what happened to her, she wanted to smile but what if the results were negative, she decided that the best thing to do was to remain calm.
The bald headed doctor came into his office with a file, his face frowning, he took his seat and studied them for a while,
"Good day" he greeted, they responded,
"Doctor sir, what happened to my wife, you and those strange nurses has refused to tell me anything" he said calmly but on the verge of exploding,
"I just need to ask a personal question if you don't mind?"
"No, what is it?" She asked
"For how long have you been married"
"Nearly five years" she answered.
"Here is the result of the tests we conducted on her"
"What does it say?" He asked,
"Can't you read?" The doctor asked frowning,
"I do not understand all this" he ranted
The doctor hissed, while collecting the file from him,
"It says here that, she is positive for malaria, not too serious though, all the blood test came out good, she is one months pregnant" he stared at them, it took a while for the message to register in there head.
"Did you say pregnant?"
"Yes",
His face expanded to a smile, he turned to his wife, she had her hands on her face, crying, he hugged her and they cried together, the doctor thought it wise to give them a little privacy, this was the type of news, he liked breaking to his patients, the happy news.
"You know you are spoiling me right?"
"Whatever, I'll do anything for you and my baby, he kissed her growing belly, while she smiled,
"Let me go and get something for you guys to eat, okay?"
She nodded.
She couldn't stop the tears, it was tears of rememberance, of joy,
For the last five years, she had cried about her childlessness, she had spent sleepless nights so many times, crying and wondering, what was wrong with her, why she couldn't bear a child, but God decided to put a smile on her face and give her, a child to call her own, she prayed that her child would be safe, he came in, met by her teary face.
"Now what? Why are you crying?, hasn't all your tears dried out from all this crying?"
"I'm just so happy, finally God has showed us his Mercy and love by giving us a baby after so many years"
"He is wonderful, I am also delighted And excited, I can't wait for her to come,
"Her?"
"Yes of course, I know, our first baby will be a girl,
"Seriously, he is a boy"
"No, she is a beautiful girl just like you"
"Ikem, I am the mother and I say he is a handsome boy"
"You know, I'm always right, my baby is a girl,
"I'm also always righter than you, don't be surprised if he is a boy"
They laughed, and kept arguing.
